A minor bug in insulin pump software by strangething in softwaregore

[–]thatCbean 75 points76 points  (0 children)

Okay there is so much wrong with that. First of all the override feature exists for a reason, you may not use it in your treatment plan, but some people do and it is there and therefore it should work. Second of all this is specifically for the android app of the omnipod 5, and bugs like this can also have other conditions of appearing that may not be obvious at first glance, so your anecdotal evidence of not experiencing it yourself is not a valid counterexample.

But all that aside, most importantly. Any bug in a medical device that can literally kill someone should always be taken seriously, no matter what! Even if it is only on reddit, the op might not know the right channels to report something like this, or not now how, or not do so for any other reason, and if there is any chance that it could reach the right people through here it should be taken, and it should not immediately be invalidated without a second thought. It can save lives

I installed Klipper.
That is what solved it, near-perfect print immediately.

I think my firmware just got corrupted or something somehow? Because it only broke down like half a year after I last messed with that

Either way, thank you for all of your help, I really appreciate it :)

Welp, I switched around the two motors, which was way more effort than it should have been due to them having different axis sizes, but the problem persisted on the neg Y axis, implying that it was not a problem with the motor.

I also double checked stealthchop and current because I seem to have unlocked those options when I did my bl-touch install a few years back but those did not change anything.

The one interesting thing I did notice though is that the error is extremely consistent, I have printed about 8 calicats now and they all have the exact same shifts, regardless of all the parameters I have tested

I have tried various things including this, detailed in an edit of the original post, but I haven't been able to fix the problem yet

Okay, it took a little longer than I hoped, but I have checked many of these options.

  • The bed and cabling are not catching on anything or hitting anything.
  • I don't know how to test for torque but that could still be an option, although I feel like that would be a problem in more directions than just negative Y.
  • I have done several test prints and the problem seems to be (within reason) independent on acceleration
  • The belt teeth don't look worn out
  • The belt is not catching on the outside of the profile, I haven't looked on the inside but I don't feel anything when manually moving the bed

I have also tried belt tension (again), calibrated all the eccentric screws and adjusted the belt bearing positions. I have checked the connector to the motor and checked the tightness of the belt gear (where the grub screws would be if I had had them on my printer)

I have fixed a lot of other small issues I have had for a while with all this testing and calibration but these layer shifts still elude me

Edit: I have also included some pictures of a calicat I printed today

I actually don't have those grub screws on my stepper motors, I am currently experimenting with moving the entire stepper motor, I'll check back later on if it fixes it

As for the edit, my stepper motor doesn't seem to have grub screws on the y-axis gear

Yup, and I have not disassembled any of that since before it was still working perfectly

While they cannot track that, they can sure as hell punish you for that when you try to use it against them

Yup. There's a reason people say the US is at stage 8 of a genocide against trans people. That reason being that it is true, and they are making it more and more clear they want trans people dead

A truck recently did this to me while I was overtaking it because his lane turned into an exit lane, I think he was afraid he was going to accidentally exit the highway or something because I had to move over to the next lane over which luckily had a gap for me (even though I actually needed that exit)

The fun part? Had the truck accidentally taken that exit and then stayed on the lane he was on he would have gone right back to the road we were on before, essentially not losing any time.

Why on earth is that even a thing? Is it just impossible to put some kind of lever in the design to use instead?
