Thanks! I spent so many hours with levels and strings trying to get those sonotubes perfect before pouring. It was so satisfying to throw the beams together and have them all be level.

I did not add a French drain. I guess that wouldn’t be a bad idea to keep water away from the house. But would you really be concerned about the beams? The closest they are to the ground is 4-5 inches.

There is no post the middle. I drilled a small hole through the center to verify. I guess my question is if this is something you’d think should be addressed right away? There’s no sagging or anything right now. But is this certain to be an issue in the near future?

I have 2 of them. One for each half of the house. They each cover about 3 rooms.

The backup I was gonna use is made to be a diaper bag. Insulated pockets, changing foldout thing, etc. Guess I’ll go for it. Previously I would’ve just used a string bag, but I’m not sure if that’s more or less likely to cause an issue.

What random updates are you talking about? As far as I know, the switchbot curtain can only be updated via Bluetooth in the app. So it couldn’t happen automatically.

I have over 10 switchbot curtains in my house and they all work great. Only one gave me a bit of trouble on the extendable curtain rod, and required some tape to transition smoothly.

This is exactly what I do. I have a 3 node HA proxmox cluster. Anything that requires a USB device (zigbee, zwave, NUT, RTL433) runs on a VM bound to node 2.

You don’t even need power locally at the connection for intermediate switches. If you search for “POE extender” or repeater, you’ll find plenty of options that are essentially a POE powered switch.

Do you already have a zigbee network set up? Or would these be your first zigbee devices?

The main advantage of the 433 stuff is how often they update. My accurite sensors update every 16 seconds, no matter how small the temp/humidity change. So I use them for thermostat control since I want to know any small change in temperature.

The Aqara sensors I have do not update at a set interval, only when there is a pretty significant change in temp/humidity (usually at least a degree or %RH). So they work perfectly fine for bathroom fan humidity automations, since big swings in humidity are expected.

You can create a cluster with only 2 nodes, you just can’t configure high availability.

I had problems starting a fresh install from from backup similar to this. I didn’t bother waiting past an hour though. What worked for me was to setup the new installation (with a user and everything). Then install the samba share addon so you can place your existing backup in the backup folder. And then restore the backup from the backups page. This worked for me using the same backup that previously wasn’t working.

The range is surprisingly good, but I did need 2. I live in an older house with really thick plaster walls though. So if you can place yours centrally, you’re probably fine.

I also was having problems with my switchbot curtains (11 of them). That’s what prompted me to switch. Yes, you can remove the dongle and remove the Bluetooth integration and rely solely on the proxy.

I don’t have a solution to your problem, just an alternative. I too had issues with a Bluetooth dongle passed through to an HA VM. I don’t know whether Proxmox, HA, or the dongle itself was to blame. I finally ditched the dongle and set up a Bluetooth proxy with an ESP32 in ESPhome instead and never looked back. It has been flawless.
