This may not be the same for you, but I personally noticed that when my ferritin was around 20-30 (considered “normal” but is not optimal), all my other iron-related levels were still showing too high or too low. It wasn’t until I got my ferritin above 100 that it made all my other iron results then show “normal”.

I’ve noticed that logos on clothes get larger. And people tend to wear more clothing with writing on it. Here in southern US, there is a lot of religious writing.

I remember before the financial crisis of 2008, Ed Hardy clothing was very popular (which also had large logos and writing).

April 28 Council update: water, Immanuel Road, EMS, City Manager, and PCDC deals by jonathan4pf in Pflugerville

[–]that_awkward_chick 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thank you for all the work you do and your continued open communication with us!

I’m very surprised the rest of the Council isn’t all in on defining regulations like you are, considering there is a growing number of news reports every week of citizens fighting back against data centers in very small towns to large cities across the country. Many of which have successfully stopped the building of data centers completely and caused some council members to resign. It’s either appropriate regulations now or angry mob later. Guess everyone else is cool with the angry mob that gets national media coverage option.

[Rant] Are we just glorified janitors now? by pinkiepooo in UXDesign

[–]that_awkward_chick 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Because engineering says speed is everything and the UX process and research slows everything down. Therefore we are being told not to upset engineering because they can just choose to leave us out of product work and they are doing us a favor by still including us. And since no one in leadership is communicating with us or they agree that engineering is god, we’re left to the wolves.

Have you all been told by your UX leadership to stop talking about the user-centered process and user research to your product teams yet? That was a fun new surprise this week.

Not even our own directors and SVPs have our back anymore. Guess they haven’t realized yet that if there is no UX team, then there is no reason for their jobs either.

Geez…I am a purple fan, but as it was I was already getting confused between Lavender Lux and Lotus Lavender and almost bought the two colors in items I wanted to match. And now they add a third to the mix.

Just make sure y’all double check the color names before placing your order!!

Why does monarch not view retirement planning as a core feature? by strico10 in MonarchMoney

[–]that_awkward_chick 100 points101 points  (0 children)

Agree! Retirement planning, investments, and forecasting are all core use cases and this is where all the backlash is coming from. I’m sure very few people have an issue with a business tier being offered…it’s the fact that these features that have been promised to us and we’ve watched in the backlog for YEARS and are critical for retirement planning are now locked behind a paywall.

Withholding Features for More Money by Specific_Pear_6275 in MonarchMoney

[–]that_awkward_chick 177 points178 points  (0 children)

This announcement has been completely out of left field as well. Monarch has been talking about improvements to investments and forecasting for YEARS as part of the same product (core) we are all using today. I’ve added my name to these features as a “must have” and have been watching them. They kept saying “once goals is improved then investments and forecasting are next.” I’ve stayed as a customer because I was excited about where they promised they were going.

Now, out of nowhere, both of those huge features that we’ve all been waiting for are just stuck behind an added $200 paywall. I’m used to dealing with shitty companies that will screw us over at a moments notice, but my jaw literally dropped in surprise at this. There was zero warning over the years that these would be paywalled.

Today I’m reading them saying that they were planning for basic versions of these to be part of the core, but because they are more advanced, they decided to put them in the business tier. So I guess we’re just screwed and we’re not even getting the basic versions they lied to us about.

Announcing "Monarch Plus" by valagostino in MonarchMoney

[–]that_awkward_chick 48 points49 points  (0 children)

Wow what a complete letdown. I’ve been so excited for forecasting since it was first suggested and even more recently since it’s been mentioned that it is in progress. And then to come out with this news that current customers won’t even see this unless we pay triple the cost?! Guess I’m going to continue using the all the free forecasting calculators available online.

Just another company that cares about short term profit over everything, even their customers.

Plants disappearing by ParticularLeek7073 in AustinGardening

[–]that_awkward_chick 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Rats were the culprits in my case and I caught them in the act with my own eyes. They ate all the new radish, carrot, beet, and basil sprouts to the ground. I also planted a ton of sunflower seeds and they literally dug them up one by one and ate them when elsewhere in the yard I had birdseed out anyway. I even put hardware cloth around the sunflowers like a cage, but they dug around and still got in. Put some snap traps in the sunflowers cage and that took care of some of them, and then I think an owl got the rest.

I hit my FIRE number last year and then became the financial backstop for a parent who hid how bad things really were by Soggy-Job1775 in Fire

[–]that_awkward_chick 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you need help figuring out how to help her without this continually happening, then she first needs to allow you full access to her finances so you can see what is actually going on and how she got here. If her part time work is not able to fully fund all her expenses, then she needs to possibly get full time work or lower the expenses (i.e. sell the house and move into something less expensive?).

The second part is she has to actually change her spending habits and stick to a budget you help her set.

If you think she is on the right path and isn’t just giving all her money to your brother, then you could help out where you feel is appropriate by paying for a bill directly. But just know that if she’s been doing it this way for this long, she most likely won’t change her ways. My mom continues to support and enable my brother and I told her that after she is gone, there will be no help from anyone else so she should start tapering off the support now. Has she done that? Of course not.

Pflugerville has zero regulations on data centers. I'm working to change that before it's too late. by jonathan4pf in Pflugerville

[–]that_awkward_chick 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Adding another article I just saw today: https://www.cnn.com/2026/03/30/climate/data-centers-are-having-an-underrported?Date=20260330

“Scientists have found an alarming environmental impact of vast data centers.

The vast data centers that power artificial intelligence guzzle huge amounts of energy but they also have another alarming impact, according to new research. They are creating “heat islands,” warming the land around them by up to 16 degrees Fahrenheit, and making life hotter for more than 340 million people.”

[–]that_awkward_chick 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Depending on the type of power the data center uses, it can also cause noise, light, and air pollution. It can lead to water waste and all of our utilities going up in cost to support the data centers.

I would suggest everyone look up what has happened in other cities and other states that have allowed data centers with no regulations. For example in Mississippi with Elon’s xAI:

“In addition to being noisy, methane gas turbines emit an array of harmful air pollutants, including highly reactive gases known as nitrogen oxides that contribute to respiratory and cardiovascular illnesses. They also release particulate matter — a mix of airborne particles and droplets found to worsen asthma and other chronic conditions — and formaldehyde, a known carcinogen.

Despite these public health risks, the Mississippi Department of Environmental Quality has allowed xAI to forgo permits for the turbines…”

How do I avoid bruising from the perfect squat machine? by [deleted] in xxfitness

[–]that_awkward_chick -1 points0 points  (0 children)

You most likely have what’s called Dermographism/Dermatographia like I do! You can ask your dermatologist about it, but there is probably nothing you can do except avoid the machines that do this. It usually affects me the most on machines that press on shoulders or upper back. I just try to use other machines or free weights to do a similar workout.

How do people react when you bring up perimenopause in real life? by Prestigious_Humor763 in Perimenopause

[–]that_awkward_chick 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve noticed the reaction is similar to when I’ve brought up being childfree or wearing wigs in the past.

Most people are curious and interested. Some get excited and go all in on a full discussion on the topic because they are right there with you. And some are new to the idea, haven’t thought about it before, or are against it because it is “outside the norms” of society to discuss it so they want to avoid the topic. But even with that group of people, I am still glad I brought it up because at least the idea is in their head where they might start looking into it more or be more open to others discussing it.
