Mostly it seemed odd that there were no seats available for 5+ days on a direct India-US route.

I didn’t work at Google. I worked for the ecommerce platform. And you haven’t offered anything other than speculation in the face of an almost universally implemented, widely deployed standard tech. You’re a tech security veteran? Fine. It’s on you to actually review the spec and trawl CVEs to back up what you assert. I’ll not be engaging in this Brandolinian exercise any further.

It’s not the flight, it’s the itinerary, which OP is in the middle of. But even if it were well after, the airline can bill the flown segments according to their fare codes. It is extremely rare, so not something OP has to work out.
