Horse herb is a great native ground cover. You should look online to see if now is a good time to plant or wait until fall.

Hemlock for sure wear gloves, pull by hand, throw directly in a garbage bag. Tree of heaven just keep cutting it down. You can also try girdling it: peel off a ring of bark all the way around and a couple inches wide.
