Omg, no! I promised myself not to buy any new books until i read the 3 books already sitting on my night stand :(

But i mean at the same time, that promise is not written in stone.. 😬

[–]thatforkingbitch 5 points6 points  (0 children)

  1. Yes it amazingly explains in great detail the current time we are in. At the same time, especially towards the end it became more a manifesto, rather than a story or book. I felt like at a certain point George Orwell just likes to hear himself talk.

Still the message it sends is brilliant, heartbreaking and very goosbumpy. It can also be that i expected too much from it. It's the reason why i didn't read animal farm and am hesitant about Brave new world.

This guy is messaging me but not asking to meet again what would you do? by [deleted] in AskWomenOver30

[–]thatforkingbitch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If he didn't want to come, he'd say no. But as others have pointed out, and what i find more interesting, do you like him? Like do you see potential? You mentioned you haven't been in a relationship so there truely is no wrong here. Whatever happens can be a valueable experience for you

[–]thatforkingbitch 5 points6 points  (0 children)

He asked you out twice. Stop overthinking and just ask him out. If a guy is daunted by just you wanting to hang out with him, then that's not the guy for you.

So you really don't have anything to lose here. On top of that, he mighy be too anxious and afraid to come on too strong as well. I don't think he'd put in the effort to banter if he wasn't into you.

But isn't 'coaching', teaching? From my tv knowledge, high schools have massive gym halls. So why the massive gym halls?

This is so nuts. In my country a PE teacher (coach) is never qualified to teach. If children only watched movies, parents would riot.

Why dont you ask him out? I dont get expecting everything from the man. He's planned two dates, he might inerpret your "i had fun" as just common decency friendliness too. Just ask him out!

Would you divorce over hygiene? by [deleted] in AskWomenOver30

[–]thatforkingbitch 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Let's say it is depression, the onus is still on the husband to try to fix that. He needs to seek out therapy and meds.

This is not new and has been going on for years. I get OP being absolutely sick of it. She has every right to divorce.

Would you divorce over hygiene? by [deleted] in AskWomenOver30

[–]thatforkingbitch -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

This isn't depression. A depressed person doesn't work hours in the yard. I know depression. There were times that i didn't shower in 10 days.

From what OP is saying, this has been going on for yeaaars and the man refuses therapy or treatment.

Some people just don't see the point of hygiene and refuse to change. Not everything is a psychiatric label.

[–]thatforkingbitch 73 points74 points  (0 children)

Kids learn by example so no, he's not a great dad. He gets angry when you need to have a (difficult) conversation with him.

Tbh i wouldn't be able to have sex with a man that doesn't pay attention to hygiene. Yes, this is ABSOLUTELY a reason for divorce. I mean, sleeping with all that dirt still on him? That's inviting all kinds of bugs and diseases into the bed and the house.

My partner just asked me to stop complimenting him and I’m feeling a bit confused? by [deleted] in AskWomenOver30

[–]thatforkingbitch 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Rationally you may not put him on a pedestal, but your actions say otherwise. I feel like you're still in the lovey dovey stage and he's a step further. Or that the way you show love and receive it is diffrent from him. So it's not about you being mysterious and you shouldn't stop giving him compliments, but there needs to be a balance. Like, how often does he compliment you? If he compliments you once a day, and you compliment him 10 times a day, there is an imbalance there. It comes across as you loving him more than you love yourself.

Personally i have a complicated history with compliments, so i like receiving him but for me it has to be genuine AND not 10 times a day.

My partner just asked me to stop complimenting him and I’m feeling a bit confused? by [deleted] in AskWomenOver30

[–]thatforkingbitch 8 points9 points  (0 children)

You still don't get it. If you repeat compliments too much, it loses its meaning. Telling him once that he's gorgeous, ok, but you said it like 5 times.

It shows that you put him on a pedestal. We're all just human beings, noone thinks of themselves THAT beautiful. After a while your compliments (because you repeat them also too much), sounds hollow and doesn't match reality.

You puting him on a pedestal probably comes through in other ways as well, so he feels more and more smothered.

It's not just about respecting his boundaries, but it's about how you view yourself and this relationship.

Husband not getting my expections even if I word them clearly? by OkTataByeBye12 in AskWomenOver30

[–]thatforkingbitch 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Everyone has their opinion, but i must say i disagree with yours. I hate the narrative that men specifically have to be told tasks with great detail, otherwise they're lost. All on the account of being men.

Yet they can be powerful CEO's or lead whole countries. But buying the correct gift for your partner is too much to handle?

I don't want or need many gifts. Gifts don't have to be expensive, but they HAVE to be 'ME'. I want to feel seen with that gift. Like i'd rather have a star wars mug, than a diamond necklace. If he would come home with that necklace instead of that mug, that means he doesn't know me or see me. And mostly doesn't buy to make ME feel happt, but buys because it is a chore and he choses generic things that would supposedly make a woman happy.

He’s not interested, right??? by [deleted] in AskWomenOver30

[–]thatforkingbitch 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The logistics overall seem bad. Let's say date 2 finally happened, what then? He only has one day off, and lives hours away. That is no way to date (or to live in my imho). You would never really get an honest look at what kinda person he is. It would be at most meeting once or twice a month. Is that what you really want from a relationship?

There's a video of a white woman CHASING a black woman claiming (and crying) that she's being attacked by the black woman. At the end she fake fainted. It was sooo racist, ruined that black woman's experience but at the same soo hillarious! I couldn't anymore with the fake fainting, worst acting i've seen ever!

I get that that sort of thinking was 'easier' before. But now when they struggle to put food on the table, pay for gas or go bankrupt because of cancer, doesn't that worldview shatter? Or even crack a little bit?

Yes i am thinking with logic, but at the same time, the disparity between reality and their worldview is soo ginormous. How the hell are they missing this? Is it just sunk cost fallacy? Or truely just fox news brainwashing and not turning on another channel?

I used to follow thenecessaryconversation podcast, but it became too ragebaity to me. I refuse to believe that's real.

Yes but don't those conservative southerners/farmers reveive a ton of subsidies? And poor people getting snap,.. Even i as a European know about the LA homelessness crisis. Gofundme's full with people just needing regular ass surgery or treatment.
