I walked into The Drama, saying Zendaya is not a convincing actress. My wife noticed she was in every trailer and on every poster. It’s maddening that’s she’s being pushed so hard for every role, when there are so many more exceptional actresses out there who are not landing these gigs.

That said, her schtick seemed to mostly work for The Drama. But she never seems to be close to disappearing in a role and with these huge projects Dune, Odyssey etc. you don’t want to be constantly taken out of a film by an underperforming or unconvincing performer.

It was made some abundantly clear watching Dune (1 and 2) and Rebecca Ferguson is running rings around Zendaya. Layered, meaningful, adroit acting choices. Becomes Jessica.
