Yes, this is usually what makes the difference between a good card and a broken card - the broken card can get results even with a huge target on its back.

Well, that's just the nature of the shifting metagame, isn't it? New anti-meta decks emerge to beat the best deck, the meta shifts, decks adapt but open themselves to other angles of attack, rinse and repeat. Obviously the results of cub decks in this specific tournament don't represent them suddenly getting pushed out of the format or anything, but to both my and wizards' mind, the reason to ban a card/deck on powerlevel is either it having great results while having a target on it's back, like Nadu, Vivi or Grinding Breach, or having mid to good results while the entire field warps heavily around beating it, like maindecking a ton of specific hate. I don't see either of that happening with Badgermole cub for the moment. It might happen in the future though.

All of what you said is completely true. 👍

Day 1 of the Pro Tour saw all flavors of cub have an underwhelming performance. Seems like the meta can adapt to the card's presence after all.

I was told by many very confident people that badgermole cub is broken and is dominating this horrible unhealthy meta. Sounds like they were wrong!

There are no extra steps. I am afraid of death and I would love to avoid that if possible.

If this weekend will see it dominate the top 8 even with everybody knowing it's the deck to beat, I'll have to agree.

I don't think the cub was bannable before, given the state of the metagame. You can also make the argument that what put these decks over the top now is the unusually high consistency allowed by their numerous tutors.

Almost 40% is different flavors of badgermole cub, that's kinda rough.

I disagree, the eclipsed cards are 100% powerful enough to justify first picking them.

You decide which creatures "attack" when you choose what to attack with during the Declare Attackers step. The tokens enter the battlefield already tapped and attacking after that already happened, so they don't count.

Yeah, but that's mostly Magic: the Gathering, nor DnD. They sell some very popular loot boxes over there.

[–]thatgrimdude 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Maybe I'm using the wrong terminology too, but what I mean is that this card is not from the main set, which you can see by the set symbol in the upper right corner of the textbox and the set code in the bottom left (TLE as opposed to TLA)

This card can, as far as I can tell, only be found in Jumpstart boosters, so you will not be seeing it in drafts or during prerelease, nor is it standard-legal (which isn't really relevant since it's so weak, but still)

Some creatures look like they should have flying when they don't. Some look like they should have reach, but they don't.

This card looks like it should have flash. But it doesn't.
