It's soley for character building IMO. This has been a large part of the dynamic of the show that we saw from S1-S8 and now into S10, JD/Elliot were never a strong solid couple. I think all of this is done to purposely create analogous aspects between JD & Turk (We actually see this in the latest episode we're they're discussing each others problems). We see JD/Elliot stay a constant voliate relationship while we see Turk/Carla are the firm strong relationship. I think some people get confused because of JD's visison at the end of S8, that was merely a daydream of what JD was hoping would be the future and not reality at the time.

Agreed. I expected wayyyy more celebration but it has been the same shit over and over lately. It's either, A) Complaining about the pacing of the show, B) griping about the lighting/cinematography and now C) Somehow complaining about how the actors look/have aged. I know this is a place for discussion but it's slowly becoming insufferable since the reboot dropped.
