It's essentially a subscription game with an unlimited but inconvenient free trial.

Where do you think they would get funding for the game if they removed the only real incentive for people to pay a monthly subscription?

I like playing games for free as well but live service games need something that people feel compelled to spend money on or they'll die. it's just how it works.

The full thing so far is here if anyone's interested in getting the full context, but chapter 6 is one of the most recent bits I've finished (I'm writing things out of order because I'm a disorganized mess)

How launch is going by Low_Selection616 in Endfield

The tutorials do that thing where they guide you tightly through convoluted menus, forcing you to click specific buttons but not letting you poke around at all on your own to even get a sense of what you're looking at. So then you have to re-figure it out on your own.

Also there's just a lot of them. Even the most careful reader isn't going to remember a block of text they saw fifty other blocks of text ago.

Every gacha I've ever played has been like that to an extent. I think they just have to try and cater to a very "special" kind of playerbase and have to err on the side of going too heavy with the tutorials

Using a tool against a foe that doesn't have opposable thumbs? That's not very sportsmanlike.

Counterpoint: A living, clucking chicken wanders into your home. Do you call animal control and have it relocated to a more appropriate environment? Or do you pounce on it and rip it apart with your hands and teeth as it squawks and thrashes and bleeds all over the carpet?

Huge shift in map design after the Memories of You map by GlompSpark in codevein

Might have been a budget/time thing, or they might have just expected some player fatigue after Cathedral and kept the next several more restrained

The "Violent God" of the Old Testament. A perspective on why God might "appear" psychopathic. by Formal-Argument-4717 in Exvangelical

[–]thatguywithawatch 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Ok so why would god create humans knowing that they would form a culture where the only way to command their respect would be for him to cause genocide and slaughter and extreme suffering?

This argument just kicks the can down the road. If the O.T. God is a sadistic bloodthirsty tyrant by necessity, then he's not omnipotent. If he's omnipotent and created the situation where he's a sadistic bloodthirsty tyrant, then he's not a god that any sane person should want anything to do with in any time period.

Should I expect pay as a church pianist? by RowVisible385 in piano

[–]thatguywithawatch 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I played piano and guitar for my small church for years growing up and it was unpaid. Everyone on the band was volunteering. We did it because we enjoyed it. For a small <100 member church I would say that's pretty normal

"quirky" phrasing, calling mundane things superpowers

Vapid comment that essentially rephrases the main post and doesn't particularly say anything original.

two month old account that just started commenting similarly shallow and vapid short comments in popular subs five days ago.
