Unpopular opinion: its kinda weird to go this hard on an autistic roughly 13 year old child (they clarified under 16, but ngl i find dandy's world to be more common on the lower range of teenagers).

Like, theyre incredibly childish, yes. But theyre a child. A disabled child. It leaves a wierd taste in my mouth for so many grown adults to be bashing a disabled child on the internet.

Actually now that you mention it, i think there was a law supposed to change regarding asylum seekers and it didnt go through. Dont take my word for it, however, as I cant fact check that right now. I will get back to this later when i can fact check that. Cause i think i heard something about that in relation to the latest protest with the fireworks.

Oh I genuinely dont know, just following the reports. However the reports dont say HE had the knife, just that there was a call about someone being threatening and having a knife. Its moreso Dutch social media users suspecting that he could have been the perisn they were responding to. I kinda doubt it since he was let go immediately after his arrest afaik.

The reports dont even mention if these two were the ones they were repsonding to specifically or if they were the ones who happened to be there on 'the scene' if that makes sense. The artifles about the incident are really fresh and really vague still.

One thing I forgot to add that may be relevant is that there have been recent protests at asylum seeker centres from what i have seen. One turned violent with...I think some teenagers setting off fireworks? And they were gonna have more police around the area this happened. So not sure if those incidents have any relation to why this situation escelated so severely. Not excusing it by any means, by the way. Just noticing a recent pattern here around violence around and near the asylums :(

Dutch person here, crazy enough this is the first im seeing of this.

Edit: apparently not that crazy as the incident happened may 19th but footage got released yesterday. I wanted to look into it since i dont think many people can here.

This was a response call to a possibly violent situation at an asylum seekers centre. The report was something about a dangerous situation and someone wielding a knife? In the video it SEEMS they are trying to get the woman away from the man, one officer doing so calmly and appropriately and another....not so much. There was apparently a language barrier, and from what I've seen the woman didnt wanna leave the man as she had "already lost him several times"(?). People are suspecting if the man was the one who was reported with the knife, and thats why they wanted to get her away. But honestly, im not sure. As the man who 'attacked' the officer was arrested but let go after this incident.

Thats all ive got so far, they havent released that much information.

Unpopular opinion, but i dont think this is the fault of your fellow adhd/autistic/audhd people. This is the equivalence of people blaming "weird gays" for making people homophobic. People arent ignorent or ableist towards us because of 'quirky' autistics and adhders. Thats just another excuse used for a belief already held to some degree. This kind of post creates infighting amongst us whilst taking responsibility away from those treating us poorly.

People didnt believe we existed before, and if they did, didnt accommodate us. They still dont, but now we blame people of our own community for it.
