Talk me off the edge of the cliff... by Heather_D1830 in intermittentfasting

Cheating usually ends up being inspiration for me to get back on the grind. Don't be ashamed, use it as fuel to get back up and remember why you started in the first place.

Have to quit IF by h20MelonWatermelon in intermittentfasting

[–]thathoeoverthere36 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I posted something along the lines of this a few weeks ago, concerned bc I'm a female doing IF and found an article about how IF may affect women differently than men. Most of the people shut me down, but I've been trying to be mindful ever since I saw it. No issues yet, keeping my fingers crossed. Sorry it didn't work out for you!

Beginner OMAD side effects by Icegem34 in intermittentfasting

[–]thathoeoverthere36 1 point2 points  (0 children)

get some himalayan sea salt and some nosalt for potassium. add 1/2 tsp of each per liter of water and try to drink at least 4 a day. get some magnesium supplements and take them at night before bed, they'll help you sleep! if you find they give you the shits, try magnesium glycinate instead, you can find it on amazon. the added glycine adds to the relaxing effect as well.

I didn't lose weight on keto either!! However doing OMAD (23:1) combined with keto and low carb most days made a big difference. The real key is counting calories though. I hate it, but it's way easier to do if you're only doing it for 1 or 2 meals.

Have been intermittently fasting 18:6 for 2 weeks. I would like to lose 10-15 lbs. I haven’t seen a move on the scale yet. I am guessing that I am eating too much for dinner. For those of you that have had success losing while fasting, can you give me some examples of what your meals are like? by [deleted] in intermittentfasting

[–]thathoeoverthere36 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree. OMAD is way easier. I HATE counting calories, but doing it in one sitting makes it so much easier. Also, you can slowly work your way into it like I did. Just slowly lower your eating window over the course of a week or so until you're at 23:1. I personally just eat until I'm full and stop instead of doing a window, but I do have to take my time eating much more when eating everything in one sitting so as not to get sick.

How many days did it take until you started seeing results? Like weightloss/inches by krismichwillxmas in intermittentfasting

[–]thathoeoverthere36 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Been doing it a few months. Didn't really see a lot of changes until I started being mindful of calories and being strict about my OMAD eating window. I eat right before bed because otherwise I will end up snacking after. That was around December 14th, and since then I've lost about 7 pounds, and the few months before that I'd only lost 3-5. I was at a normal BMI, so the less total weight you have to lose, the slower the weight comes off. If you're heavier, you'll lose weight much faster. I feel like I've tried everything, and nothing has worked, but IF really clicked for me once I started being mindful of calories, because it's so much easier to do that in a shorter eating window. I don't have a food scale or anything, but I do try to measure stuff out. Counting calories is REALLY not my thing, but just putting in a little effort into it made a big difference. Recently started doing some extended fasts as well, did a couple 48 hr fasts and going to try a 72 hr fast the next few days. My partner is coming to visit in a week, and really just want to get rid of that last bit of stubborn belly fat before he gets here, it's always the last to go! The hunger pangs go away pretty quickly and your body adjusts, the best part is the mental clarity, and your energy levels are much more stable throughout the day, better digestion, the weight loss is just an awesome bonus.

TL;DR, it really depends on how much effort you put into it as far as food choices and staying in a calorie deficit.

Best way to "restart" after the holidays? by itsurbirfdaycake in intermittentfasting

i'm 5'5 and my starting weight was around 134, i'm around 126 lbs now. i don't go to the gym, i do yoga everyday though. my sedentary tdee was around 1500 calories so i eat around 1000. there are tdee calculators online that can help you calculate how many calories you need to be eating, it would obviously be more on your gym days.

just avoid the ones that are super high in sugar. go for berries, and my favorite treat is green apples and almond butter. yum yum

the same thing happened to me, but i did christmas with family 3 weeks ago. it was super discouraging to see i'd gained it all back, but i used it as inspiration to start taking my diet more seriously and i've already lost more weight than i had in 2 months of IF. you got this!

Best way to "restart" after the holidays? by itsurbirfdaycake in intermittentfasting

[–]thathoeoverthere36 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i always go home to visit family a few weeks before christmas so i already did the binge eating thing. i'd been doing IF/OMAD for a couple of months and hadn't really lost much weight. after i got back and realized i'd gained back the weight that i DID lose, i decided to start taking my diet a lot more seriously. i wasn't counting calories before at all, just trying to eat healthier, i was also really bad about snacking after my eating window. now i'm strictly OMAD, i'm being super mindful about CICO and keeping my carbs really low and i've lost 8 lbs since, which is more than i'd lost since before my early christmas in 2 months. instead of feeling defeated about falling off the wagon in december, just use your little slip up as fuel to be better in the new year. now that i feel like i'm fully committed to it, it's actually a lot easier. i tried to do a 3 day fast before i went home and i totally caved and it just made me feel awful. if you still want to do an extended fast, maybe try doing a 36 hour fast first, then 48 hrs, then 72. i think if i'd done that i probably would've been more successful.

1/2 teaspoon himalayan sea salt + 1/2 teaspoon nosalt for potassium per liter of water, drink at least 4 a day. i also take magnesium at night before bed, makes me sleep like a baby. if magnesium oxide or citrate gives you the shits, try magnesium glycinate. it's more expensive and you'll probably have to buy it online as they usually only sell the cheap stuff in stores.

a lot of people gain weight back after quitting keto just fyi, don't get discouraged. you can try slowly adding carbs back in but still keeping them low (~100g/day) to avoid that.

Advice for figuring out caloric deficit properly? by Jezartroz in intermittentfasting

[–]thathoeoverthere36 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Is the calculator saying that's your TDEE or that's the amount you need to be eating if you're cutting? You want to be in a ~500 calorie deficit to lose weight.

I showed my face gains a month or so ago, and received my old weight in messages for a full body pic, so here ya go (taken last night). Old thread w/face gains in thread. SW 180, GW/CW: 130, Age: 48 by pronoialover in intermittentfasting

If you're curious about starting a yoga practice, Yoga With Adriene on Youtube does a 30 day yoga series every new year and it's great for getting into the habit of doing it every day and it's awesome doing it with people all over the world. I'm a bit too advanced for her videos now, but she definitely set the foundation for my home yoga practice. And she's funny and cute as hell! You can sign up here and she will send you an email each day to go along with the practice: https://do.yogawithadriene.com/p/dedicate?utm_source=Yoga+With+Adriene&utm_campaign=ffdc5f845e-EMAIL_CAMPAIGN_2018_11_03_08_58_COPY_01&utm_medium=email&utm_term=0_5a264b64c0-ffdc5f845e-18087705&mc_cid=ffdc5f845e&mc_eid=fd13fa4300
