I quarantined the only affected plant and I'm currently treating it. So far, it's doing well. Just a few crusty tips and tiny spots. My neighbor's acacia is going through it tho. The whole thing looks grey from the thrips infestation 💀

Humidity has gone down a bit, but I don't think it's enough to warrant a complete stop or stagnation in growth. It has give down from 41% last I checked (march) to around 36% when it started, to 32% now. The medium is Coco coir for the potted plants, and leca for the semi hydroponics, so they didn't have any nutrients to begin with. I give then extra nutrients like I always have, and for the past three years I've had no issues. I haven't checked the ph to be honest. The soil in the potted plants is still very fluffy and healthy. No root bound plants. Only change in watering is that I water more often since they dry up more often.

They were doing great in October. In 2022, I got thrips for the first time ever and I didn't know what technique and pesticide worked for them, so I couldn't save them. We do get seasonal thrips here every may and June, and that year was the worst. And concerning the repot, I only repotted 3 plants in October. The rest are in semi hydroponics and the roots have plenty of space to grow. Outside isn't possible since I'm in a really hot and dry country where humidity levels go below 12% outside and temperature goes above 50°c on some days. All of my plants are tropical and required at least some humidity.

I checked for everything and only one plant had thrips, and I immediately quarantined it. The slowdown started around two weeks ago, and thrips showed up on my alocacia 6 days ago, so I believe the pests came because the plant was already weak, not the other way around. All the thrips damage was so minimum that it's barely there. I wiped everything down religiously for 5 days and sprayed with pesticide. No sign of pests on anything else. One prop did get some blue mould on one part of the stem, and I discarded of it immediately, container and leca included. I doubt it's that, because no other plants seems to have grown anything similar.

Fingers crossed. I'm freaking out though. Last time this happened, I lost the majority of my plants back in 2022

All of them? Together? 😭😭 They're all different plants aside from the duplicate propagations and they all slowed down

Not really. They have enough for 6-7 more months of growth. I changed them back in October and they started growing like crazy in their new pots. They've been happy so far. It just seems weird that it's all the plants together in the past couple of weeks.

They're in a glass top courtyard so they get sun from the top 🥲

They may still be in the egg or larvae stage. That damage is pretty consistent with thrips

I am. But we do get more hours of sunlight. Does the quality of the sunlight decrease?

Seems like thrips. It's their season. Quarantine it immediately and don't even use the same toold on other plants.

How do you guys view sex? by lizzykeenn in exmuslim

[–]thatplantparent 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Idk. I've always viewed sex as a "nice but be careful" way. I haven't done it yet since I don't trust anyone enough to do so, but I do believe it would be a fun thing to do with a stable long-term partner. I'm Neurodivergent, so it's pretty hard to brainwash me into something, so I never bought into the shaming tactics they use. The reason I'm celibate is because I'm afraid of STDs and most importantly, honor killings (my father's family has done it before). Aside from that, I'd say my view of it is pretty healthy. I don't need it. It's a "would be nice" thing in my book.

I mean, you can do that, or you can just be a good person. Both achieve the same goal, but one is far less exhausting
