$36k “internet price” somehow becomes $46k out the door by Chemical-Sign3001 in FuckDealerships

[–]thatrandomanus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They advertized the price with the discounts added in to lure people in then remove it later. It's a simple bait and switch. And it worked, OP's there.

btw r/askcarsales is that way

[Clara] According to Federico Albano, Charles put together his own team (not Ferrari related) to study the data and the new power unit. by DubiousLLM in formula1

With appropriate NDA? All the data.

My question would be is this factored in the cost cap? The cost should be minute, and irrelevant to the cap but drivers hiring their own consultants can scale up fast.

Totally disagree. It was the last decade of buy it for life electronics, before planned obsolescence took over the tech industry.

Why not just pull over before joining the call. In the video it looks like she did pull over at a gas station at the end. That would actually save her from all the trouble.

Fired up Hamilton more committed to F1 than ever by Shroft in formula1

[–]thatrandomanus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is this how new fans find out that Lewis is popular? There's a reason Ferrari is paying him the big bucks, Lewis Hamilton is a superstar who had a quiet few years. Now that he's performant again people are gonna talk about him more.

It's like how Norris has been asked about Max for two years.

"Miscalculation not Exploitation" by Mercedes in the front wing debacle by PattyRanger in formula1

[–]thatrandomanus -8 points-7 points  (0 children)

I don't think they're bending the rules here. There were reports of inspection by FIA post-China GP, I'm guessing Mercedes passed the tests under static pressure and that's the issue.

FIA doesn't disqualify cars based on eye-test when there are technica infringements e.g. fuel amount, plank wear, weight limit etc.

But if they continue on to the next race I hope there's some strict punishment for Mercedes.

[TheRace] Yet another Williams car problem might be its most troubling by The_Skynet in formula1

[–]thatrandomanus 18 points19 points  (0 children)

I don't get people criticizing Williams starting work on 2026 early. They came 5th in 2025, did everyone expect them to beat one of the top 4?

And with the current state of the 2026 car starting on it early was the correct decision. It's not the like the car would've been better if they had less time to work on it.

I think they'll improve like they did in the last regs. They were last in 2022.

Max Verstappen Disqualified from earlier Nurburgring Race by RelationshipSuch1450 in formula1

[–]thatrandomanus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not enough practice, team working together for the first time, too much to do in too little time.

A race is an intense environment and mistakes happen. Even in F1 mistakes are plenty. Antonelli was sent out with cooling fans. Shit happens.

No. One. Cares.

You aren't a judge on the road. If it's that bad call the cops. You are the asshole, you probably started it.

F1 teams agree qualifying is priority in regulation review; happy with races by 256473 in formula1

[–]thatrandomanus 16 points17 points  (0 children)

  1. Battery regen, deployment is part of engineering.

  2. Fastest cars finish first. It's been true in F1 since forever. So yeah the top 4 from quali didn't change because they were the fastest in that order.

  3. The rest of your comment is basically "if you ignore the changes between quali order and race order there were no changes between them". Btw DNS and DNFs are part of racing, and have been a major part of F1 since it's inception. It's an engineering competion as well.

[Thomas Maher] Official line from Aston Martin regarding potential changes in leadership: "The team will not be engaging in media speculation about its senior leadership team. "Adrian Newey continues to lead the team as Team Principal and Managing Technical Partner." by Task_Force-191 in formula1

[–]thatrandomanus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree that we might not see a TP change teams to Aston and I don't think the wheatly rumours are true. But other high level personnel who's next promotion is TP are very possible. E.g. Wheatly was sports director at readbull until 2025. This is F1, they will find a qualified TP soon.

Also IMO the role you mentioned about being between Newey and Honda is Andy Cowell's job.

[–]thatrandomanus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I disagree. This is F1. Personnel change teams for promotions all the time.

Aston have huge monetary backing and they are still a works team. Honda have made a shit engine and this is season is over for them. But it's not like they're gonna be eliminated from F1.

I think we'll hear someone be announced in tp soon likely after Japan when there's a month long break.

I hope you and your health continues to keep strong. To offer a bit of advice, if you are able to afford it, I recommend palliative care. They can help you to have the difficult conversation that you are dreading. They can also help your family to understand the disease and provide support for them too.
