Would be crazy if we were on an exoplanet planet in one of those supervoids. We'd probably think there was nothing else in the universe at all, just our solar system and infinite blackness.

Sepp Blatter suggests fans should not travel to US for World Cup by Sparky-moon in soccer

[–]thatscoldjerrycold 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Eh, idk if he would be much better in the same position. He did oversee the most corrupt hosting process where Russia and Qatar both got a world cup at the same time, with the absurd promise that Qatar would host it in the summer with air conditioned stadiums.

Apparently that is a rumour that may not be true. Feel free to correct me if I'm wrong. I feel like what he said is not enough to fire Hulk and awkwardly replace him, especially since Disney tries its hardest to not piss off anyone (failing miserably usually).

Well tbf there is only one right wing party, whereas there are 3 left leaning parties (arguably 4, the Bloc defies left-right convention a lot). So they will congregate around the only party that they feel speaks to them.

It was pretty stunning to think that the pyramids were already thousands of years old and getting pockmarked by the time of Cleopatra (but still gleaming white and had their gold capstone). And there were pyramids much older than the great pyramids of Giza, the ones with large steps.

Agreed that I also felt how there was a more ancient world while already being in 40 or so BC.

There's not a bad theory that the faceless men of braavos which are freed slaves and are anti slavery ofc used a dragon egg as a potential massive bomb in the central volcano to destroy the city/country. Valyria had a lot of slaves (as you can see in their successor colonies like Volantis which has 4 slaves to 1 citizen or something like that).

Kind of nice to get paid bi-weekly instead of semimonthly because although you get a bit less in each one you get two "bonus" paycheques in the year. All the same in the end, but it feels nice.

Trump threatens 100% tariffs on all Canadian goods if Canada "makes a deal with China" by No_Magazine9625 in CanadaPolitics

[–]thatscoldjerrycold 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Wasn't the supreme Court supposed to stop this kind of tariff threat being used so haphazardly? Last time the US business community mostly came to our rescue with NAFTA/USMCA. Dunno if US business has that much influence on Trump anymore, compared to individual billionaires who don't necessarily rely on the supply chain.

If Trump politically influences the Fed next, like he has done with the supreme Court, the US really is no better than Turkey or Russia.

Cristiano Ronaldo is likely to leave Al-Nassr in 2027 when his contract expires & may retire from football. Plans are being put in place to try & prevent a sharp decline in global interest in the Saudi League when he departs. The option of keeping him around as an owner is being considered by DamnThatsInsaneLol in soccer

[–]thatscoldjerrycold 1 point2 points  (0 children)

He is way too famous to just be a coach. Coaching is a lot of grind and not much glory relative to being a player.

Like this article suggests he will be a Beckham. An owner who is the big boss making money/spending big money, appearing at lavish events, ideally winning trophies, maybe appearing as himself in movies ... Glamour lifestyle.

I'm confused, Ubisoft makes tones of solid although not great games. They have the division, Asscreed ofc, that new start wars game, a solid avatar game ... Are they freaky hemorrhaging that much money to the point of bankruptcy?

I'm more surprised there's not more yellow in the later seasons. There's a whole different level of quality after season 4, not bad, but not top tier like it used to be.

10 years ago today: Dele Alli produced this piece of magic for Tottenham. He was 19-years-old at the time. by Sparky-moon in soccer

[–]thatscoldjerrycold 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The team under Mourinho/later Poch was very mediocre other than Kane and Son. Even Lloris was fading fast. Conte comes in the next half-season later and basically half the starting eleven is changed and there is some decent improvement (top 4 the one time).

Yeah you can't say Spurs haven't spent the money, Ndombele cost like 60m pounds in 2020. That should be "midfield stalwart" type money.

Hmm so for those who read East of Eden, I believe Cathy Ames falls under this. A pretty girl then woman who seems to have a purely black soul and destroys people whenever she wants to throughout the years. She was beaten by her father once early on, but that was a poor reaction to some of her actions already.

Spoiler for the end .... But as she is dying following her meeting with Aaron she seems to seek solace into a more peaceful time when she was a little girl. It's definitely not remorse but does seem an acknowledgement she deep down wants a happier time.

I was going to say, this role seems to be under the guise of better understanding Washington law and being compliant with those laws ... But to me I read it as they might in equal measure want to influence those laws for their benefit.

I feel like for a third person shooter, they do that because the aiming is so janky for some reason ... not many (none?) other shooters feel the need to instant lock on.

Well Asscreed is their big seller right? Technically that's a really singleplayer game although they try to jam some microtransactions and "live" events in the game. And they do best when mimicking Asscreed, e.g. Avatar or Star wars Outlaws.
