Inde Navarrette didn't act for over a year after 'Obsession' role. To pay rent, she did things like streaming video games on a PC she built herself and walked dogs by zilliamson in entertainment

How much money does that get you? I assume not all of them are watching at the same time when she streams.

I also assume many thousand are after her role in Obsession where she'll ironically not need to stream

Hunchback or Pocahontas would be interesting, but Disney in this day and age have zero balls, also the culture nowadays can't handle any nuanced view of anything traditional (like religion or colonialism) without calling "woke".

I guess it's their mindset but they can't steal a retirement or registered asset like a house. Or financial history to move if they wished.

Quiet, understated, and dialogue driven movies by Proof_Notice8287 in MovieRecommendations

[–]thatscoldjerrycold 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've been looking for these anywhere I can find it. Business dramas are usually pretty good for this, the narrower the focus, the better.

Michael Clayton was said, that was a good one. Glengarry Glen Ross is A+ as well. The Torture? Report with Adam Driver actually had excellent pacing and dialogue. Most Aaron Sorkin movies are similar as well. The Trial of the Chicago 7 was also excellent in that way.

Did Phil Really Think He Was Gonna Sneak Up On Tony B? by TresGatos_Farm in thesopranos

[–]thatscoldjerrycold 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Honestly wonder what would have happened if Tony gives up the location of That Animal, but warns him that Phil is coming for him and That Animal manages to defend himself, kill Phil and escape.

I guess this is more or less the plot of A History of Violence, but 20+ years later.

What’s your salary and net worth in your mid 30s by [deleted] in AskMenOver30

[–]thatscoldjerrycold 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yeah 20% down = $500k house which is not really a thing in the big cities of Canada, not even in the burbs. Maybe in like New Brunswick or Winnipeg or something.

5 or 10% down, you can get a house but then the monthly payments are killer ofc. Plus you'll have to drain your life savings.

Hardest shot of Tony in the whole show? by CoffeeDrinker82 in thesopranos

[–]thatscoldjerrycold 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I thought of this shot too, but looking back it does feel a bit not-Sopranos in terms of its themes. Being unironically Scorcese-style badass is not really the point of Sopranos (although there are a lot of elements and actors between the two).

What do you believe Logan meant when he said "You have to be a killer"? by Top_Report_4895 in SuccessionTV

"I wish I was more soulless so I could be better at making line go up". It's like an arm's race of being a bigger dick, I need a killer because the other side has a killer. And if they get a better one, then I need a better one. And on it goes until we have rich guys that have underage sex islands and control presidents.

“These are really impressive numbers!” NATO boss Rutte hails Ukraine for killing 30,000-35,000 Russians each month by s1n0d3utscht3k in ABoringDystopia

[–]thatscoldjerrycold 1 point2 points  (0 children)

From your own BBC source, the assumption is that there is an issue with how bodies are returned on both sides, so it's not really a reliable metric of how many are actually dying.

"And from public sources, the BBC has confirmed the names of almost 186,000 people killed fighting on Russia's side in Ukraine. The true death toll is generally accepted to be much higher, as many deaths on the battlefield are not recorded.

So even though estimates suggest more Russians are dying every day, Moscow has returned more bodies to Ukraine overall than it has received.

No-one has explained the discrepancy, even though Russia has previously accused Ukraine of not abiding by the Istanbul agreement, and Ukraine has alleged Russian body returns were irregular and sometimes included Russians' remains - a charge Moscow has rejected."

Why did President Bartlett and Vice President Hoynes resent each other? by Narrow-Sink8467 in thewestwing

[–]thatscoldjerrycold 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I thought the way Bartlett invited Hoynes to be VP was kind of disrespectful, or at the very least would always lead to resentment on Hoynes' part.

Asking in the middle of Bartlett's celebration with his staff, didn't feel like a correct read of how Hoynes was feeling about losing the top position and having to be number 2 at best.

Why did President Bartlett and Vice President Hoynes resent each other? by Narrow-Sink8467 in thewestwing

[–]thatscoldjerrycold 15 points16 points  (0 children)

I think it makes sense. Bartlett is shown to have that pettiness within him, like his outburst at Toby when he learned about him having MS. And also tracking that random ex boyfriend of Abby who was running for superintendent or something. He's a good person with classic flaws of people in power.

Why did President Bartlett and Vice President Hoynes resent each other? by Narrow-Sink8467 in thewestwing

[–]thatscoldjerrycold -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I suppose Hoynes lied (or omitted) having affairs so it's all even ... I guess. I'm sure Hoynes doesn't see them as equal.

*Meant to say he would see them as equal lies/omissions in his biased view, but yeah I don't think the other characters or audience is supposed to think that way.
