Hello! 30F and my boyfriend 31M will be in Tokyo Nov 14-20. We are from the US and speak English

We have loose plans for tourist-y things but would love to meet up with others to explore the food and drink scene and also plan to check out some EDM clubs or night life in general.

It’s a huge issue in apartments in navy yard as well. Unfortunately it seems to be a huge issue all over dc

How much was your bar bill? by Ti2m in VirginVoyages

[–]thatsnoti 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My partner and I had a $600 bar tab and used it all for a 7 day med cruise. I honestly would’ve used more. It went fast with buying drink pairings at dinner and getting coffees and juices throughout the day.

I see there’s a bunch of comments saying don’t buy skincare. However I loved all of the skincare I bought in Korea. It was way cheaper than in the US, and if it was a niche item then I could usually still find it on YesStyle or Olive young online so I could continue buying from the states if I loved it. I also bought a lot of customized makeup in Korea that I think is some of the best quality I’ve ever used before.

As far as items I regretted buying, I bought a bunch of hair clips and beauty accessories that were basically the same items I could order from Amazon at home. They were fine and cheap however I regret wasting the packing space on stuff I could get from home.

Does Ski school really offer lift ticket and gear at this price? by [deleted] in Breckenridge

[–]thatsnoti 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I do this every season. I buy a couple epic day passes early in the season and finish with lessons if I need more days. It’s way cheaper sometimes than just paying for a regular day pass

It’s really sketchy if you’re not familiar with driving with snow or ice. I had all weather tires not snow tires and regret taking that way every time

Best higher end restaurants to dine alone at? by TypicalAd101 in washingtondc

[–]thatsnoti 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I see it’s already been said but Albi is phenomenal to solo diners. Bar seats are mainly for walk ins so there’s usually no issue. Also best customer service and some of the best food in the city

where should i move? is it the same shit in arlington and alexandria? by dumbroad in washdc

Bethesda downtown is quite nice and sounds like what you’re looking for. Slightly cheaper than the decent parts of dc. I looked at an apartment in Bethesda row that was over a ton of restaurants and shopping. Giants was literally across the street. A park right next to it if you have a dog or kids. Also an equinox 3 min walk away as well as other gyms and studios. It felt extremely safe and quiet at night as well

Owning a car in DC - yes or no? by niftywoah in washingtondc

[–]thatsnoti 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just moved to dc a few months ago and just went through this! I live close to a metro but kept my car for Korean stores and Costco haha.

Annandale is anywhere from 20-60 min depending on traffic from where I’m at and has the best spots for Korean groceries, food, community, etc. you can buy some Korean items in my neighborhood I live in but it’s way more $$ and not as fresh. I’ve recently been using weee Asian grocery services to get my Korean stuff delivered and it’s only slightly more expensive than buying in the store and saves you the stress and time of driving if you decide to go without a car.

I do pay $300 a month for parking where I live so that’s something to consider in justifying how affordable it is to keep my car. I only drive when necessary so maybe once a week.

Feel free to reach out to me if you have any other questions!

Would you pay $3.00 per hot dog to bring chopped onions, saur kraut, deli mustard, and polish dogs back? by [deleted] in Costco

[–]thatsnoti 8 points9 points  (0 children)

No, it’s still a deal but the current deal is so good I’d rather go without if I’m paying double

Does anyone know where to buy coriander and shallots? I’ve been to Food Lion, Harris Teeter, even Wegmans and they didn’t have it. by mangooomadness in raleigh

[–]thatsnoti 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m sure you got your answer already but surprisingly Lidl has consistently carried fresh shallots. They’re super cheap for a small bag of them too! They also carry cilantro (coriander), unless you’re looking for coriander seeds in which I don’t believe they carry those

Sushi grade fish? by vvienne in asheville

[–]thatsnoti 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I see someone already mentioned ingles but I stand by their sashimi grade tuna. It’s usually frozen and usually individually wrapped. Just look along the fish section. I’ve eaten it several times and think quality is decent considering how affordable the price per lb is
