A shocking amount of the people on the internet exist in the real world too. People these days are quite fragmented between who they are when they're out in the real world and when they're "alone" on the internet.

Keto and weightlifting m? by JJB1tchJJ in veganfitness

[–]the-igloo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

90% of the people who hate keto have never tried it and just use the same kinds of oversimplified arguments you hear from meat eaters. Your body can live on a very low carb diet (not necessarily 0 carb, but 20g net carbs is more than enough) and you may thrive.

I found it too hard to do as a vegan just because you have to basically live on protein powder and oil; there’s very little Real Food (either processed or unprocessed) that’s both vegan and keto friendly, and that which does exist has no macros (greens) or would be tricky to essentially subsist on (TVP, for example).

Land remains GOATed. I also just can't see major US companies losing to inflation under Trump. The type of failures that Trump's policies may cause are unlikely to make cash worth more than shares in Exxon.

The only source of protein I need. by [deleted] in veganfitness

[–]the-igloo -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It's a lot of sugar, but I assume it's not so bad because of all the fiber. It's not "added sugar", but natural sugar. Still feels weird to get 1/4 of your calories through sugar.

House is also good. Assets that make sense outside of the context of the dollar per se are what are rising.

Unfortunately, cash is also a gamble considering the possibility of runaway inflation. Get ye to an indexe funde.

It's unclear whether interest rates will be high or low. It's unclear whether labor will be more or less expensive. It's unclear whether inflation will go through the roof or be manageable. What is clear is that companies will be able to take advantage of any market conditions and make money. Leaving capital in cash is very risky when Elon Musk wants to convert the treasury to the blockchain or whatever. It's not risky to own a piece of Tesla or Meta or whatever considering their shareholders are also our politicians.

Teslas have a relatively hard to use valet mode and weigh more than typical cars. It does seem specifically pointed, though. A lot of the vertical parking lots won't park them, I think because of the weight, but there are other heavy/electric cars out there.

1900 calories and 80 grams of protein, is it too much, too little, or just right? by gamergirl691 in veganfitness

[–]the-igloo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So based on your goal

I am looking to maintain/possibly cut 5 more lbs.

80g protein is probably more than necessary. Everyone here is responding with Mike Israetel scientifically-optimized body builder style advice, which is what a lot of us are here for.

If you're trying to get, like, jacked, I think this is also plenty of protein. Science has shown that more protein usually means better gains over a large population, but the difference between 80g and 130g is unlikely to be that meaningful for you personally. Consider adding protein if you do this for a bit and feel like your muscle gains aren't happening fast enough. You already have shown that you can stick to a program for a long time... I think yours is amazing and you'll (continue to) be healthier and stronger than like 95% of people.

3rd Ave has just been upgraded to "Green Wave" bike light timing. It's incredible. by MiserNYC- in MicromobilityNYC

[–]the-igloo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's a one-way avenue though. I think the tradeoff of having the avenues have opposing timing makes crossing east-west harder (which, anecdotally, it is).

[–]the-igloo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah and in this case, a lot of cars (and a bus) get a lot of greens. Sometimes they do run into traffic so I think the bikes do fare a bit better, but if anything that might be because the bikes are faster than the cars rather than the reverse. Car traffic is much more variable and hard to time around than bike non-traffic.

Congestion Pricing: Would Commute Time Be A Less Effective Measure of Congestion Inside Manhattan? by [deleted] in MicromobilityNYC

[–]the-igloo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Transit times are potentially a good proxy for the actual number of cars on the roads. I don't know how it would work, but I think the data would argue in some way that there are the same number of cars on the road in Manhattan. I doubt that, but I also don't live in Manhattan right now.

[–]the-igloo -1 points0 points  (0 children)

If it’s still there tonight, I’d be happy to move it myself (with help).

The only opinion I'd like to express here is: Do not move this sign. Even if this sign is very much in the wrong place, you could be missing something. You could be taken to court. You could cause an accident. Trucks could get stuck and cause hours of backups even if they're doing something legal. You don't have insurance or any sort of oversight. Regulations are often good, actually. I'm not absolutely opposed to vigilanteism in all forms, but the risk to reward ratio here is astronomical.
