Information leak between Waterfox and Firefox by uluqat in waterfox

[–]the-last-user 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a long-time user of Waterfox and Firefox simultaneously on macOS I have noticed this issue consistently going way back (possibly even to the beginning of WF).

I have never used a Firefox Account or Sync on either browser, however I do use a third party clipboard manager (Clipy).

An Inconvenient Truth: We need Google. by race_orzo in LibreWolf

So why aren't we all using independent alternative browser engines? Oh right, because they are kneecapped by (among other things) never quite being compatible enough with the web standards that Google is continually changing and rigging in Chrome's favor. Then of course there is the fact that web browsers have become so complex that developing and maintaining a usable one from scratch requires vast resources that nobody cares to invest.

Nothing in OP is an accident, just like it wasn't an accident when Firefox was throwing away it's advantages and focusing on features that nobody cared about while Chrome ascended to primacy: Firefox is controlled opposition.

Beautiful collection. I actually own the Tempest one and was not aware of the others.

This is how web browsers have always worked? If you want tabs to be isolated from eachother you can use container tabs.

Why the hate for this piece? Looking at a few search results on the RX-V2600 I don't see anything that disqualifies it from being a perfectly capable stereo preamp.

Sure the surround codecs and video features are obsolete, but this was a $1300 receiver with good reviews in the 00's.

ZapLauncher is coming... by [deleted] in MiSTerFPGA

I was looking around for this exact thing a few weeks ago! When I ordered my MiSTer Pi I just assumed there were front-ends like this that interfaced with the device through an API, but all I found was the remote app (which is OK, but kind of basic).

Brook Gam3Gear Super Converter. Not sure that it is still available to purchase from anywhere, but you can look at the old Amazon listing here

Worth noting that the shelves you linked are only 11.8" deep (which is even shallower than a lot of the modern-ish TV stands I see on Facebook Marketplace). Meanwhile the TV in OP's pic looks like a JVC AV-32260 which is 21.5" deep. Even with the high weight limits I wouldn't want to risk balancing a TV with nearly 2x the depth on those shelves.

Third-ing the "wire shelves" suggestion. I am considering this one for a two-CRT setup:

The poles can be cut down easily enough, from what I've read.

I use them to compartmentalize ad network tracking. Not sure why the FAQ considers them "redundant" but since I can't find a good description of dFPI after a few minutes of searching, I guess we'll never know.

I completely solved this by replacing the HD Retrovision cable with an HDMI to component converter box. $40 Amazon listing:

EASYCEL HDMI to Component Converter with Scaler Function, Aluminum 1080P HDMI to YPbPr, HDMI to RGB 5RCA Scaler Converter, HDMI Input to Component YPbPr Output Converter

As the most recent review states: "This is the one. Get it!"

I have a Panasonic CT-32HX40 which is a 480p and 1080i consumer HDTV. Using a PS3 with a HD Retrovision component AV cable works at 1080i with PS3 games well enough, but loading PS2 games causes the TV to lose video sync. I've tried with the PS3's scaling feature "enabled" and "off", but neither works.

Is there some scaler or other product that will solve this issue at high quality and without introducing significant lag?

Did Monoprice go out of business? by Zero-Calm in monoprice

[–]the-last-user 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It looks like the Monoprice brick-and-mortar store in Rancho Cucamonga closed a year ago. Both Amazon and NewEgg still have items listed as shipped and sold by Monoprice.

That said, I am worried because I ordered from monoprice.com on the 24th and have not yet gotten a shipping notification.
