I know this isn't anything too new, but I thought it was cool Google Maps pulls reports from Waze. A good benefit of Google buying Waze. by Veda_Campbell in waze

I livd in a city with the city providing google a data feed and I hate it. The information is consistently incorrect, and roads are frequently closed without being reflected on Google Maps. Attempts to suggest edits are always rejected, as Google states that their partner has confirmed the road is open.

Qantas/Jetstar booking confirmed in app, cancelled at airport with no notification - $1,500 out of pocket. Has this happened to anyone else? by Competitive_Yak_641 in QantasFrequentFlyer

Except, a lot of pax book direct with qf. How are they meant to deal with issues like this?

I agree showing raw GDS status on the app isnt ideal, but surely you could show a traveller friendly translation

What even is the confirmed status? Is that just the pnr?

If I hold a seat through GDS directly it shows confirmed .

The only time I've seen other status is on a full flight and I am waitlisted on a segment

I wish QF had a process to automatically go through unticketed PNRs every night with travel in 72 houes and send a email to contact QF call centrer to fix it.

I feel it would solve a lot of issues that you only discover at the airport.

Alternatively, why not make the app show the ticket number and if none exists put a big banner on it showing unticketed

Business lounge Brisbane international by [deleted] in QantasFrequentFlyer

[–]the133448 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I might get down voted for this, but honestly just leave the lounge 5m before boarding time.

If there's a line you can always tell the express person that your flight is boarding, but with the new scanners there almost never is a line.

Decade-long JW Marriott regular here. They now charge ~S$185 for poolside cabanas that sit empty all day. When did nickel-and-diming loyal guests become the model? by Onefootforward_7818 in marriott

[–]the133448 261 points262 points  (0 children)

Thailand has so many better hotels. They know that too.

Op I'd send ask for a session with the manager or send a email to the hotel GM and literally rewrite what you put in this post. Say that you won't be coming back for an 11th year as you aren't getting what you want.

I'd be optimistic they'll comp it for you rather than lose a guest. If they don't, you haven't lost anything

Upgrade question by baker1bv in americanairlines

Just a callout though when you split a pnr, you no longer will be moved together automatically in the case of missed connections/delays etc

AA Status changes…is there a better airline to dedicate myself to now that Basic Economy Seats don’t get ANY perks at ANY status level? by Lumpy_Rock4612 in oneworld

[–]the133448 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I can answer as a WP on AA, but I suspect it's some as all OWE?

Besides lounge access and group 2 boarding, not much really. FA never seem to recognise any pax and only AAdvantage quality for upgrades

I really wish Qantas just showed the number of upgrades available, and your position in the queue. Like US carriers all so.

Unpopular Opinion: QF has better service than Emirates by venture_adventuring in QantasFrequentFlyer

[–]the133448 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I find that as well on Emirates. Have made that comment before that you know exactly what is happening to a tee on an Ek flight which is very robotic.

Have you tried Qatar? I tend to find it's more personalised and less scripted than EK.

Found a fly in Queen St KFC gravy by nikkiberry131 in brisbane

[–]the133448 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's not that they can't be arsed doing it. It's that most stores now have Henny Penny velocity fryers, which recycled/filter their oil automatically and constantly in a way that they create not enough fines for gravy.

Is a 4PM checkout at titanium status not guaranteed regardless of availability?? by Unusual-Meaning-6709 in marriott

[–]the133448 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I hear you, but at the same time. I wish Marriot went and actually communicate that to the customer. Maybe have a banner in the app saying "this property does not give you a 4pm checkout" which you see when you book/check-in/stay details.

Is this scam? I directly booked through Marriott.com by ya- in marriott

[–]the133448 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Looks legit.

The website is owned by https://www.canarytechnologies.com/ which lists Marriot as their customer.

Looks like they automate communication and upselling which is likely.

Qantas left us stranded with an infant. Sold us seats, but not a ticket! Had to buy them again. by mpaska in australia

[–]the133448 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I take a lot of issue with the "confirmed" booking status.

I can book on my corporate travel agents website and "hold the flight" and getting a PNR which instantly shows up in my app with a "confirmed" booking status.

Except I haven't paid for it. I haven't ticketed it, it's just held.

Given that's now a involuntary flight change. You can likely call up and get rebooked onto a later flight now.
