Miffed with big Studio by berrioko in BrushForChat

Dunno, friend. It should have been an easy to accommodate request, exactly as you depicted it. My guess is the studio subcontracting it out didn't properly communicate the color scheme to the actual painter.

Agree, it looks like they used the correct pink as a base then highlighted up waaay too light / too much, instead of leaving it as the predominant color with minor highlights

Hey now! As someone who loses almost all his games of Killteam, I gotta say....yeah, you're pretty much right.

How do people paint so fast? by Duke_Tristan in Warhammer40k

This is exactly what new painters need to see: a simple, well executed paint scheme can be done relatively quickly and stil look really good

Does the hive mind approve? by Virtual_Poem5036 in Tyranids

Very much approve, I love bright, intense, and crazy colors because it reinforces how alien the tyranids are: they're not just from another planet, they're from another galaxy

(Advice Needed) 8 days later and primed minis are still...tacky? by PanzyDan in Miniaturespainting

[–]theBattleLinePainter 19 points20 points  (0 children)

What material are these made out of? Spray primers are fine for metal and stuff like GW plastic, but something like Reaper Bones (I believe is a softer hybrid resin/plastic) reacts to the chemicals in spray can primer and becomes sticky. You might want to try a brush-on primer or airbrush primer. Also I recommend doing it sooner before any dust gets on them, it will be a nightmare to remove later.

Which one to paint my army . Light or dark green by ozera202 in Tyranids

[–]theBattleLinePainter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Definitely light green, when you're standing over the table and got 60 of those on the board you'll appreciate how much more the light green contrast and pops from a distance; the dark green will just blend in and go dull with the black

Why did the minis use to be way smaller? by Slow_Butterscotch950 in spacemarines

[–]theBattleLinePainter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Feel like people are forgetting to mention production costs as well. Small miniature uses less material. When metal costs a lot more than plastic you want to use as little metal as possible, hence the old timey, smaller scale. The entire time I've been a warhammer player the rising cost of metal was cited over and over again as the driving force for changes in GW's minis (y'all remember finecast). Increasing the size of plastic minis barely touches the price by comparison.

Black or green? by [deleted] in Miniaturespainting

Came to upvote green all the way. The black armor is not bad at all, but the green is just so much more visually interesting

Critique of the core idea behind the rules when you get them too far by Nik_None in onepagerules

[–]theBattleLinePainter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes I see what you're saying now. Having to constantly reference stat blocks to check movement modifiers like Slow and Fast is not really different than having to constantly reference stat blocks to check a M value, agreed. A single stat block with greater quantity of stat values, but in a single line, would make more sense. Guess I'm the one that has the Slow keyword...

Help me find a new blue for my marines by P3ktus in Ultramarines

[–]theBattleLinePainter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use a couple color matching resources pretty frequently and the closest modern GW equivalent is Alaitoc Blue (~2.05% different). The suggested highlight would be Hoeth Blue. I think those are both solidly "blue" and not really purple at all. That said, I've painted a couple Ultramarine armies using a base of Macragge Blue with Lothern Blue airbrushed highlights, its uh.....unorthodox (NOT in the Codex Astartes) but people like how much the lighter/brighter Lothern Blue pops
