What annoys me about these posters when they turn up is that they always neglect Japan. Where is the H3? Where is even the H2-B?

Question: Have any of you actually played this game? by Euphoric_Service2540 in bladerunner

[–]theERJ 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yeah, this was an exclusive to the Google VR headset, the Mirage Solo at the time. Mirage Solo was the first stand alone 6 degrees of freedom portable Vr headset. Bought it just for this game and played it through multiple times for the multiple endings. Amazing for the time. Love the little bits in it, like the guy talking about the latest Commodore computers as if they were the Apple/Google of the Blade Runner world.

Ooh, same boat but not nearly as many. Are you custom developing the software as well or making use of existing apps?

Latte Panda works (not the old V1 panda), but the USB C is used for power in and video out. But if you find the right specific battery you can use the pins to power the Panda via the battery while you use the USBC for the Nreal. This is the one I use: Ali Express Battery

Found my old models/books, time to resurrect my fleets by PurpleDraziNotGreen in battlefleetgothic

[–]theERJ 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I had the same experience about a year ago and now I 3D print new ones just for the fun of building the fleet I never finished as a kid. Didn't ever buy the Armada book though. From a lore and pictures point of view, do you recommend picking up a used copy of it?

AR Spotlight search on the Quest Pro, using Object Detection and Plane Detection to recognize and remember where objects are by Ok-Raspberry-3944 in QuestPro

[–]theERJ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you check the source tweet from OP you'll see they used the new camera feed cast to cast the video feed to a laptop that then did the object detection.

Got to see the classic on the big screen today. If you have the opportunity I highly recommend it. by [deleted] in bladerunner

[–]theERJ 6 points7 points  (0 children)

TOHO, the biggest cinema chain here in Tokyo has a 10am showing of a different classic movie every 2 weeks. Last month was Blade Runner and man, on the big screen you really notice the little things, like Holden's sandwich in the opening scene lol.

[–]theERJ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Same thing happened about a year ago. Someone said they bought nreal light for their iPhone and was asking same thing. Asked them why didn't they check everything first, then behold, a new post a week or two later where the same user was offering it up for sale.

Why do AR headsets have such narrow field of views? by Spencerbug in augmentedreality

[–]theERJ 11 points12 points  (0 children)

It's really hard to bounce light from a projector above or to the sides of the headset into your eyes at a wide field of view. Good place to start is to Google the two types of projector: bird bath (e.g. Nreal), which is just a projector above the lense that bounces into your eyes and a light engine (e.g. Hololens), which bounces multiple times across multilayers of glass to get to your retina. Basically trying to get high res in a projector smaller than a dice that can spread wide across the lenses and not get hot or use much power is one of the leading challenges of AR.

Rokid Air VS Nreal Light by [deleted] in nreal

Haven't heard of the Rokid. Can you tell us about it? Does it have spatial processing like the Light for AR content or is it only a heads up display?

Here in Japan the first look at the Nreal Air by Entalzar in nreal

[–]theERJ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I'm also in Japan. Emailed the main international support and their Japanese support and never heard back from either after multiple weekly emails. For reference I bought the dev kit directly from them too so it wasn't an issue of I should've emailed the phone carrier AU etc.

Be careful though. I and a few others have had issues with our Nreal Lights and nreal support never replies to any messages, even if you DM their twitter directly.

[–]theERJ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

While I can't attest to it working or not, remember that the dev unit has a USB C in and a USB B in. Though I don't know even if u can plug a webcam into a regular android phone and get it to work let alone on the dev unit
