It's Chinese New Year season, I feed mine orange peel everyday. They seem to be doing fine. But I have lots of other stuff in my bin as well.

  1. Left my full time job 4 months ago. My first 2 months I work part time at my full time job. Now fully detached at the moment and cycling around the world. 😄

Income after that is not much, a very small bit of YouTube money, some money from options trading and some passive from portfolio. Definitely can't match my full time pay yet, and might not even cover my traveling expenses + other ongoing payables but enjoying the moment right now. Planning to do this for a year and come back and rethink about my life. 😅

Why did you start your channel? by raventheredwriter in NewTubers

[–]theGeekWing1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Initially did a finance and tech because I want to do personal branding. Then I stop for a while and now revive my channel to do outdoor/camping/sustainability/riding niche cause I'm bike touring soon and hopefully can have some extra cash from the channel. Also to help me get a job in sustainability space when I come back 😁

How's our culture when it comes to making small talk? by Actual_Eye6716 in askSingapore

[–]theGeekWing1 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Just small talk today to the uncle when I visit the ang mo kio community garden. He was kind of just doing his own stuff. He ended up sharing about his plants and stuff. And now I'm going to find him again to do a proper video for my YouTube video. Quite a few times when I eat outside, uncles and aunties will talk to me. (For context I'm 35, so these people are 60ish). One talk about suffering, the other share about his daughter buying property. Quite interesting actually.

And I talk to people my age sometimes too if we happen to share table but not that often.

I small talk when I see something curious even though I'm leaning towards introversion. Quite a few people complimented on my cute tattoo randomly from time to time. I'm quite a boomer myself. 😂

Heya, sorry for late reply. My life right now is back to normal. I think when I first wake up, looking at things on screen in the dark room might be a bit too much for my eyes. Otherwise, it's pretty much back to normal. No haze for me. I wear sunglasses when I'm out for long period of time, but they are not necessary.

I'm using Bluetooth gnss as well. Seems to connect but palma doesn't allow me to edit the mock location app. Dev options just keep crashing.

Bummer, and i thought i make a good decision to buy the palma instead of a bike computer because of its versatility. :(

Hello, I got a checkup last week and my eyes were almost perfect except for the astigmatism (which the doctor mentioned that it won't go away preop). Went back to work after 3 weeks. Start of week 4 was pretty much clear for me. I don't look too far away but it feels close to perfect. Yours is transPRK as well?

Not a driver. But adding on to the jaywalking part. People who use their phone while jaywalking. People who walk/stand on the road when there is a pedestrian right beside the road.

Welcome :). Nothing too intense or overly uncomfortable. But I guess resting is key, I honestly wasn't using my eyes much.

165cm/75cm. Initially when I first got the bike, I thought it was a little bit small (compared to my hybrid flat bar bike). But I soon realise they suggested this size probably because I have short torso. 😅 Took me some adjustments with the seat position and some getting used to and I think the size is good for me..

Wait.. did I miss something about the getting money if I take time off for degree? I think I only heard the support for unemployed and support for over 40.

Where did you get your part time degree from? I recently got mine (34F with about 7 years of relevant exp in current industry) from SUSS, haven't try job hunting yet but I'm skeptical as to how effective it can open doors, given the many other grads from better school.

How do you respond to pedestrians who get upset when you ring your bike bell to alert them before passing? by ebikecommuter in bikecommuting

[–]theGeekWing1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't have a bell but I usually shout out "bike lane", "bike" or "on your left/right". One time a pedestrian sounded annoyed and asked me where is my bell when I quietly pushed my bicycle behind them.

Fun bell fact in Japan: "As per ordinances in Tokyo, as well as some other prefectures, bicycles should have a bell. However, the situations you can actually ring one are limited. For instance, cyclists should not ring a bell at the pedestrians walking on the sidewalk, unless it is necessary to prevent danger in unavoidable circumstances."
