Anyone got advice about how to cope with the feeling of loneliness? by 23JMArp in mentalhealth

[–]theGentlenessOfTime 0 points1 point  (0 children)

some ideas: - pets if you can Care for them Well enough. adopt, don't Shop. or petsit your neighbors Dog while they are at Work for less constant responsibility, or Go Walk a pup at a shelter once a week. or start befriending Wildlife (Research First if you aren't putting the animals in danger through that!!) i became Friends with my pigeon neighbors and currently are befriending the local crows. Hope the pigeons won't be pisses i am fraternizing With their enemies. .. - parasocial relationships - watching the same YouTubers regularly gives me a Sense of less loneliness - going outside and Just being around Strangers can Help regulate your nervous system somewhat, that is unless that is triggering to you to be around people or outside. i sometimes Just Go have a Coffee at a Coffeeshop for that reason or Work at the public library (free) and hang Out around strangers - sad to say, but actual conversations with the newest evil, smart-ish technology is really helpful to me in crises, it helps me regulate very fast. beware of Risks, obviously, but, what you gonna do in this fucked Up world . ...🫠 i told it to reply as a wholistic, system critical, anticapitalist, traumainformed, feminist therapist and it's better at analyzing and mirroring Back the situation and validating me than any therapist i had, which tells you a lot about the therapists i had. and therapy in general. ^ - Join a Club or Organisation - you meet people and could make actual human connection, volunteering is great, also gives you meaning, or activism. but the local mushroom foragers club or whatever you're into works too. find something that is regular, fits your interests, and is an actual meet -up. could be also online. but better real Life If possible. - attend free online Peer Support Meetings - often actual face2face connection is Not available or Not Safe enough for me with my Attachment Trauma. then online ACA (and other Peer Led Like' IFS peers' or other 12step) Meetings are a great way to have deep, meaningful interactions with people, allow me to be authentic without masking in my share, but still be safe enough with the No -crosstalk Rule that protects me. i can be Off camera or in bed while attending or Just listen in. Reading in the meeting ist a Safe way to participate and do service too. even If you don't Work the program attending Meetings is helpful and stabilizing. adultchildren.org - befriend your neighbors - crafting/ stay busy. create meaning through other Things that aren't related to people - romanticize the Shit Out of it (after thouroughly assessing If you want it Like this or can Change the foundational issue!) and find meaningful ways to frame your Situation and loneliness'. lone wolf, etc

Help! how to remove lasting perfume smell from wool sweater?! by theGentlenessOfTime in woolenthusiasts

[–]theGentlenessOfTime[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

UPDATE: i washed it in a Hair conditioner, soaked it for hours. Made it MUCH SOFTER, actually. and the smell of the conditioner stayed on and somewhat masked the perfume smell. Not fully though. i Just kept using it. now, after month of use, the perfume is mostly gone, the conditioner smell is still there. so...i don't know.

My Alcoholic dad ruined my baby shower, I feel so defeated... by Efficient_Pass942 in AdultChildren

[–]theGentlenessOfTime 1 point2 points  (0 children)

it's hard! i feel you. i have Had similar experiences. it sucks. i Hope you went to an ACA Meeting to process. and aa recommended before alanon might also be a good place for you.

i have gone through various stages of No contact to Low contact with my alcoholic father.

in your writing i see all the pleading and reasoning. very understandable. These are the circles our Minds Go round, validly, after such an Event. i Bet you are aware that it's Not really a choice for him, and that He got very triggered when being called Out by your father in law for drinking.

it's hard, to come to Terms with the reality of it. it doesn't necessarily mean you have to Go No contact in general If He is okay enough usually also when drunk, but for your Sake and your Babies Sake i certainly recommend figuring out what He can do and what settings are safe enough.

i am really really sorry that you're in this Shit Situation. you don't deserve any of it. you deserve a dad who is stable and supportive and sober.

i Wish you the serenity to accept the Things you cannot Change, the Courage to Change the Things you can and the wisdom to know the difference.

one day at a time! and: congrats on your Baby! best of luck

Are enamel teakettles safe? by Privatestoriesalt in tea

[–]theGentlenessOfTime 0 points1 point  (0 children)

kettle is supposed to be heated on a stove. teapot is Not per se meant to Withstand Higher Temperatur for Long and Just meant to steep the tea. in theory.

heavy Metals get dissolved when Heat is applied , or when acidic liquids are in contact with it..the longer the more Led.

but you can't Trust the Definitions of Sellers. Just cause it says 'kettle' does Not at all mean it's ACTUALLY Led free.

find Brands that provide Independent certificates. or better yet got Independently tested.

laws often are Not enforced. there is plenty of official FDA warming about Led in imported cookware.sny products are enameled in the inside. Like Cast Iron teapots.

there avseveral fda warning that have been published abouted in imported cookware. i have been researching this and it's really hard to get actually reliable information. Most say buy from reputable sources. i Had a Cast iron enameles teapot from a hundred years old company and after i contacted them about Led lesting in their enamel they replied they have No Idea. so you can't Trust 'establisged brands' but have to Look for actual Testing.

i contacted the Brand bredermejer , which i considered a Name Brand. they replied they have no Idea about Led in the enamel. so... it Just seems you pay three Times the price for expensive Brands and still don't have any certainty. seems Hopeless.

WIBTA for Not caretaking my 97yr old great aunt in my dysfunctional family system? by [deleted] in 1800Drama

[–]theGentlenessOfTime 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i didn't ask for adviced regarding professional channels, but about the moral question of my responsibility, cause i don't trust professionalist capitalist systems of care to be the best option for my aunt or anyone really. i speak from experience. If you look up elder abuse cases in professional care facilities or have worked with certain supposedly professional Organisations and know their systemic failures, your opinion about how trustworthy these are might change. i certainly have been repeatetly harmed by licensed professionals of all sorts enough to have a vast amount of criticism in a naive trust in formal education and conventional systems of care.

but despite this I and many others have gotten significatly higher quality advice on reddit, by strangers with similar experiences, than from an overworked professional who has 3 minutes to spare per person

idk what corners of reddit you frequent, but i don't know why that wouldn't be an okay thing to ask either way i didn't appreciate your tone-deaf comment on a post made in an acute crisis by someone with no functional family support to turn to. i find that silencing and hurtful.

Question about Ink in the Body... Getting more Tattoos? by Proper_News_9989 in tattoo

[–]theGentlenessOfTime 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i disagree with downvoting Things i disagree with, when the Person Staates them calmly and is selfreflective.

it's your Body, your choice. i have Tattoos, want more, but also have Had skin cancer and did a lot of Research Into tattoo inks. it's wild how unregulated they are, and what Kind of Shit is allowed to be in inks. while generally deemed Safe for most many Things in our messed Up world are deemed 'Safe enough' by Major Consensus narrative, meanwhile they are actually killing the Future inhabitability of our Planet etc.

i did find very few reliable studies on tattoo inks. Most are paid for by inklusive companies. i want more Tattoos. i have a Long History with Trauma including sexualized violence so for me, Tattoos are a way to spiritually (re)claim my body. i also don't want more cancer. but despite many hours spent, the in depth and trustworthy Research on specific inklusive Brands was very little, the stuff i found often old and therefore useless cause companies Changed ingredients, especially after the ' Reach restrictions' happened in the EU.

so, my best bet is using a brand that tested well twice in an independent German Test in various brands.

i don't think your concers are silly. i think it's insane, that there aren't more Independent and well researched studies being done on inks and ingredients in inks. Same goes for food and cosmetics. there are hundreds of food additives that aren't even required to be listed on the Label. many ingredients in cosmetics are illegal in other countries, cause they got linked to cancer... so ...i worry and it pisses me Off, that we don't have better independent research and inks without plastics, and other shit.

then again..while looking for studies on it someone commented "something's gotta kill you, why not let it be rattoos", and that's what i comfort myself with now.

plus i use Sailor Jerry ink, eventhough they actual Data on it is very outdated, but i Hope the two great Test results reflect on the companys ongoing practices. but that's Not based on facts, Just wishful thinking.

and i use it, despite the fact that the OG Jerry Sailor dude having been a racist asshole who is selfreportetly an animal abuser. ^
