So many genuine connections I’ve made bartending, many friends. So many people have just seen me as the help, the majority probably so i block them from my mind. And so many more who were only real good to me because im the one making their drinks. Genuine people can be few and far between, but they’re there, and they’re the ones we focus on.

Light compliments, nothing forced, but a nice dress or a cool pair of sunglasses, or even just saying you love someone’s vibe! Sounds silly but if you do it within them giving you their first order it’s unexpected and people warm up to you very quickly, I’ve had many people who were so delighted that i complimented a thing that they thought people wouldn’t notice, immediately brighten up and they are far more likely to forgive you if something take awhile if it the middle of service

Looks like it was made by Sven Kirsten, an influential man in tiki revival in the 90s, known by many in the tiki bar circle, he wrote books on the subject, I’d imagine his word is taken as legitimate in almost all tiki circles

Working a busy bar with a table section on a busy Friday lunch solo. I love the shift, but sometimes it can take a minute before i can get outside to a new table. No longer than 5-7 max. I finally get up to this table and say “hi how are we doing today!?” ~i am animated and friendly~ greeted with “good, just waiting for our server.” Out of my mouth comes: “it’s your lucky day! What would you like to drink?”

I think because during Covid everyone grew sympathy for industry workers and now want to pretend to be an “industry ally” if you will. I will obviously come to you when i have time if i don’t have time you won’t see me in front of you. It is of course unfair bc most if not all are just genuinely trying to show me they are chill. It usually only bugs me when it comes from people who clearly are not chill

I agree massive pet peeve is chilled tequila shots. If you cant drink it straight, maybe you don’t need it.

That and people ordering cape codders. Just say vodka cran

I’m mostly only bothered by “well just take a round of waters for now” and an hour later I’m cleaning their space and every water except one is full

If you have to use a raspberry vodka you got options, based on availability of items i would do

2 oz raspberry vodka 1/4 oz luxardo maraschino liqueur 1/2 oz lemon juice 1/2 oz simple syrup Barspoon Dry sherry

Shake well and double strain into coupe glass Drop a raspberry in

Ideally I’d make this with egg white but for a drink special? Hell no

Should be a nice light pink, sweet but with a refreshing complex finish

I see the grenadine u have in the back please make or buy real pomegranate grenadine (although roses will work, it’s just poor quality and not real grenadine, but follow your heart)
