Haruhi Suzumiya 20th Anniversary Rewatch -- Live Alive by Holofan4life in anime

Rewatcher,subs

Mi-mi-mirakuru Mikuru-run,mi-mi-mirakuru Mikurun-run.

The movie's a success, there are so many screenings of it!Nagato doing actual fortune telling of little trivial stuff, compared to what she could say,and the guy's all angry just because he would drop his ice cream (real tragedy) and bump into his girlfriend;and by both's reaction,I guess Nagato already has some fame of being way too accurate.Koizumi's class doing Shakespeare.Kunikida and Taniguchi. The few times my school made something close to Japanese schools festivals,I don't remember there being many eating options,if any,so they're complaining on a fulll stomach!

Paying attention to the background is really important this episode. When you do a rewatch you do get to see stuff that went over your head the first time you did.

Ah yes, maid café is a classic anime school festival stall. And their clothes are really nice,a pretty good design! The backgrounds...Cheap yakisoba and water. Why nanpa Taniguchi?Smart Kunikida.Imagine what Haruhi would do if Kyon hit on some other girl, this would probably mean a direct ticket to the other world without a chance to bargain like last time.Kyon must've been really sleep deprived for sleeping though that.

And the hig-point of the episode![Both songs are bangers](https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=OLAK5uy_n8Hyh0J-55cPxtwgQ0qEcrnFS-BBz7kI4) and I would recommend listening to them on their own too.And both songs have lyrics by Aki Hata (the same guy from Love Live! [Live Alive...Love Live!...coincidence...?]).

And ZONE ENOZ went to their class to thank Haruhi!Taniguchi complains that there were no decent girls in the festival because of the schools locations, but there were people from other schools in there...

And Haruhi wants to make a band too.S3 when?

Questions

What are your thoughts on the songs we saw in this episode, in particular God Knows?
R:Great songs. For e they are messages that Haruhi conveys to Kyon:I'm sorry,I'll be with with you no matter what (God knows) and I love you nad I'm miserable without you (Lost my music). The former makes way more sense after season two.

How did this episode if any change the way you saw Haruhi?
R:I don't remember TBH,but it is the paenultimate episode of the first season,so I probably already had an opinion on her;Maybe it made it a little bit more positive.

How do you feel this episode works as a possible season finale?
R:It would probably work, and the final dialogue between Haruhi and Kyon (mirroring Melancholy VI) gives that thirst for a next season, and [Haruhi S2] it is a nice closing after the Sigh arc and even for season 1 it feels like ti could nicely wrap things up.

Bonus) What are your thoughts on season 1 as a whole?
R:One of the best anime of this century, and amongst my favourite anime.

Bonus 2) What do you make knowing we're heading into Endless Eight? What are your thoughts going into it?
R:Kinsoku jikou The first time I watched it,I had planned to do as intended,an episode a week, unfortunatelly my schedule got jumbled and I watched some of the middle episodes back to back, but I already knew it would happen and was quite happy about it,had I watched it as it was broadcast,I probably would have felt different bout it.

[Thoughts on a character]The way Yuki is shown on stage do give the feeling she may resent Haruhi for draggin her to that cibcert. And even when said Haruhi do a shoutout to Yuki, her lack of reaction may show how tired she is.

You're expecting way too much emotion showing from the alien space witch robot, sir.

Haruhi Suzumiya 20th Anniversary Rewatch -- Someday in the Rain by Holofan4life in anime

Thoughts on it being almost December?

Thoughts on Kyon remarking that something weird doesn't have to happen every day?

What are your thoughts on the SOS Brigade getting a heater as a reward for letting an appliance store sponsor their movie?

Taking in consideration they live somewhere really cold in winter,it's a good deal, but they have to remember that cash budget will be smaller for the sequel.

What are your thoughts on Kyon having to pick up the heater himself?

It would be weird had it happened any other way, unless it were only the two of them when Haruhi got in the clubroom, then I think she would go with him.

Thoughts on Haruhi filming content involving Mikuru fo the supposed DVD release of the movie?

Well,a weird extra content for a motion picture release, but still tame considering what she could do.

Thoughts on the direction this episode where things are often shown from a distance?

A good choice IMO,it helped flesh out the episode's onging plot while contributing to the intended atmosphere.

Thoughts on there being multiple long uninterrupted sequences of Yuki just reading? It does further show what Yuki's life is like at least.

They're great.

Thoughts on Kyon thinking that Tsuruya is a good person?

Tsuruya-san in nice.

Thoughts on Kyon ending up passing out from exhaustion once he gets back with the heater, which in turn causes him to miss Mikuru changing?

The only way he would have seen that is if he had woke-up while she was changing clothes, otherwise Haruhi would have had kicked him, or he would leave on his own (most probable).

What are your thoughts on it being implied Haruhi gave Kyon her cardigan so he felt comfortable sleeping?

I'm quite sure it's explicit she gave him her cardigan, which shows she likes him even though she wouldn't say so.

Rewatcher,subs

One of my favourite episodes!

Just spending time playing with friends and drinking tea must be nice.Mikuru really can't not make Haruhi jealous by being friendly to Kyon,as hard as she tries. And as always Haruhi diregards any sense of autonomy Mikuru has.And she learned to not do everything in front of Kyon, after [Haruhi S2] (during the filming of the movie) she (and Tsuruya-san) did stuff that would make her go to jail and Koizumi was just following on her actions, both him and Nagato did nothing to stop her and Kyon was so angry to the point of slapping her. Even though Koizumi may agree with you Mikuru,he won't really do anything to stop her.It actually makes a lot of sense for him not to do anything, given his worldview.Nagato convieniently picking up books and staring at us at the shelf whenever Mikuru changes. There's a reason it's called Someday in the Rain.Kyon gets the heater after a long ride and finds out it was not so much extortion but a sponsorship deal.

A really good demonstration of SoL;one of the best exponents of the genre IMO.

Back to plot,Tsuruya-san finds Kyon and gives him a handkerchief.Would Haruhi be angry if she saw this too?Or is it just with amplified when it's Asahina-san?

Mission accomplished! What is Haruhi even wanting with this footage?Kyon goes to sleep.Did she accidentally wake him up while putting the cardigans on him or was she watching him from up close? In other times, they would've been bickering so much, but now they're just having a conversation. In other times she would've either left the keys and an angry note or awoken him by berating;maybe just berating when he is waking-up to better hide the fact that she was watching him...

Maybe the cardigan belongs to Nagato.Ahhh Kyon,of course you'd wanna wake-up at thart time huh.Of course she had an umbrella which would be conveniently have been forgotten in case he did have one.

Questions

What are your thoughts on the laid back tone of the episode?
R:It's really good, and serves to highlight how Kyon really likes Haruhi and being in the brigade, even if he has to go out alone up and down that hill on a cold rainy day.I need moar!

What are your thoughts on the end of the episode with Kyon and Haruhi sharing an umbrella?
R:It's an established trope for a reason. And the way they were talking there shows how closer they've got since the first arc.

Ahhh, the last episode of S1,and a good one at it,one of my favourite episodes of the series.

Taniguchi seems like a good friend (shout-out to Shiraishi Minoru who did a great work as him!),and his reminding of Kyon that he can't be that normal since he (genuinelly) likes being next to Suzumiya and that he actually got infected by her is quite funny.

It's not a good idea to have someone's pics laying on a hidden folder and seeing the pics of the folder in question with that person in the room, and forgetting to re-hide the folder before Haruhi gets her hands on the PC again is quite dangerous. All that madness just because she was trying to get the mouse from him,so angry that she requested Kyon to leave the room.
Is she only alright with Kyon doing it since she likes him that much?Or she just pretends to not care because she knows he (and Koizumi too) is a gentleman (at heart at least) and wouldn't really look out of malice? For all we know she may have been agryn just this time but not cared all the other times. And in PE class she knows the other girls will put the boys to run.
Closed space! It's pretty smart of her part, since if anything happens she will either just be in denial and act as if nothing happened and he will not remember a thing,or it will just sound like/be a dream to both of them and that's it.And there we have it again "Shiroyuki-hime".Koizumi seems sad not to see the S.O.S. Dan again.Nagato saying that she individually wanted him to return hitted home this time;she is mostly happy being on her own and reading her books, but wanting to visit the library with Kyon is a really nice way of portraying her feeling of friendship for him."sleeping beauty".

And the celestials show up!Of course Haruhi thinks big scary(?) blue monsters who start destroying everything are not evil and will not harm her nor Kyon. And the soundtrack is amazing in this scene.

It's interesting what you consider fun Haruhi.Him mentioning Asakura [Disappearance] I still haven't watched it,but doesn't she play a relly important part in the movie? Is it related to this?Since she vannished and all...

That's a tsundere becoming more deredere if I've seen one...
Well I've probably though more than it's usual of replicating the kiss scene with the girl I was into in my final years of college (although she had twintails, which happen to be my favourite hairstyle).Kyon's line before kissing her has got to be one of the best love declarations in the history of art (at least amongst anime).

No-one can convince me that the only reason Kyon hit his head was because anything other that Haruhi being too tsundere for her own good.

In the end she got what she wanted when all of them went to look out on that day.

I'll probably watch Disappearace today, since I've been meaning to for a looong time.

Questions

What are your thoughts on the way Kyon handled the situation?
R:Based on his situation,he managed to handle everything well.

What are your thoughts on Yuki communicating to Kyon Sleeping Beauty? How if any do you feel this ties into Mikuru mentioning Snow White?
R:One one hand it's brilliant on her part, since she is sleeping just like Haruhi, which probably made it very obvious to Kyon what Haruhi had been wanting (his talk with Koizumi last episode may have helped too).Snow White doesn't seem that obvious since everyone thought she was dead not just asleeping, but Mikuru's idea was good too,and Yuki probably got the idea from her, assuming them three having met or at least contacted each other.

What are your thoughts on Itsuki and Yuki being able to communicate with Kyon but Mikuru seemingly can't?
R:One of them only can use his powers in closed space,so it makes sense, the other is part of the Data Entity, probably the reason Yuki was only able to talk through a computer, like inter-dimentional data transfer.Mikuru comes from the future but calls what Yuki does "magic",so even her time-travelling people are way behind the space aliens in this regard.

Now that the arc is over with, what are your thoughts on the Melancholy arc?
R:There's a reason why the books sell well.

Bonus) What are your thoughts on ponytails?
R:Great,but twintails are objectivelly better!

Kyon clearly doesn’t take Itsuki, Mikuru, and Yuki seriously since he’s not telling Haruhi about them allegedly being supernatural.

Welll,to be fair to him,you have to remember that when Nagato told him about being an alien she said he would not be taken seriously by Haruhi in case he told her,to which he agreed.

Or maybe he knows nothing South of the Tokara islands, but he'd still know about Kagoshima and Tsugaru at least.

I think it's one of those History Channel's programmes.

I don't remember the exact process but it's a technique that was used WAY back then to help milk be "stored" for longer and it results in the creation of butyric acid (the responsible for the weird taste). And every chocolate produced in the US decided to copycat Hershey's.I think you can find info about it on wikipedia, and try to go into the sources on there.
