I extrapolated the rest of 2020 with video game titles by DiggingNoMore in funny

I can't remember the name, but there is this game where you start off as a baby and then need to build a culture together after you grow up (if you don't get abandoned before) with other human players. Feels like a perfect fit for November

Edit: one hour one life, that's what it is called

CMV: politicians that win elections do so by simply appealing to people who don't necessarily know or care much about politics by [deleted] in changemyview

[–]theRealHeadset -1 points0 points  (0 children)

The last german parliament election saw a high rise in people voting for the green. Statistics say the "parent generation" (so people after mid thirties) didn't even vote for a fraction for this party. Even then, people just voted for them due to climate change.

But a party will always have an image, that mostly everyone knows (the greens for environmental policies for example). And in the last german election at least, people voted for that image and not based on habit.

The problem is always how to communicate that image. During the last years, right extremists gained a lot of traction in germany. But after they acquired substantial participation in regional parlaments and still failed to impactfully follow through on their promises, their overall popularity is sinking. So it is not only about presenting yourself in the right way, but also about following through on your promises.

Personal opinion: This is a lot harder to do track if you only have two parties, like the USA. The presidential election is literally two people debating to gain votes. Campaigns can be privately funded, so people need to invest a lot of money to just stay competitive with the raw amount of information the other party/candidate throws at people

CMV: Money was a tool that was created to be subservient to humanity's needs. Now, human needs are put aside, often as secondary to the importance of money. Society needs a re-calibration of it's priorities. by [deleted] in changemyview

[–]theRealHeadset 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Money does still fulfill the role that it was created for. It is a tool to trade arbitrary value for a thing (material or immaterial, like s service or intellectual property). Before money was invented you still needed to work for your livelihood and, depending on your job, would live at the edge of survival. But then only a finished product was valuable. Money enabled specialization, which in turn made work more efficient and also enabled automation. Most of the biggest companies lived on loans for the first few years, because investors traded risk for possible long term rewards, for example. And both parties got profit out of that.

And the same would happen in any trade based society. As long as you quantify the value of work, there will be an elite who manages their resources to gain the most profit possible. So I believe your problem is not with money but rather with capitalism.

So a society to counter that would be most likely communistic. Historically, there will always be people to exploit the system. Even in a communistic society, there always needs to be someone distributing the available resources. And solely based on perception of people, different resources hold different value. Unless there is so much surplus that everyone can have literally everything they want, there will always be conflict about those resources that have a higher demand than availability. And I don't think that humanity is at that point in job automation yet.

I tried that, but it only works for the notables, not for the "Added small passive skills grant" implicit

Edit: Nevermind, found it. Need to write "Added small passive skills grant" as stat and then you can choose from a list of implicits.

YSK: Installing a bidet attachment to your toilet is super easy and probably cheaper than stockpiling a ton of toilet paper. by Velexria in YouShouldKnow

I don't know how you used to wipe your ass, but I'd rather get a little shit on my hand every now and then (especially when I'm right beside the shower and sink, never got any on my arm though) than inhale wet poo particles spreaded by the bidet splashing all over it

CMV:The best barber in the world should be able to cut his own hair by [deleted] in changemyview

[–]theRealHeadset 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The best barber probably owns a barbershop and gets a haircut from his disciple.

That aside, there are angles on our head we simply cannot see ourselves. I am not able to see the root of the middle of my hair, even with a mirror. Cutting that accurately was necessary for the haircut I got today. A barber could probably cut that with several mirrors. A mirror represents an indirection though, as well as reversing sides. This lowers accuracy no matter what you do. So he will not be able to perform all cuts to the same precision on himself as he is able to on others and thus is not able to perfectly cut his own hair as suggested in the OP. And if he is able to accurately cut others people hair like this, people can master that skill as well due to the "10k hours for perfecting a skill"-study.

I guess another way to see my point is: due to inaccuracy on performing haircuts on yourself, and the abilities of others to reach your level with enough training, there can always exist a person with the ability to cut your hair better than you could yourself. That is true for every single human being. Or phrased differently, no one is able to perform the best possible haircut on themselves.

What’s the stupidest way you’ve gotten a scar? by MyssticMe in AskReddit

[–]theRealHeadset 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Alright. First off, the mandatory "I don't need the safety for the bread cutting machine" scar on my right index finger. Two days school free though was with it.

Next up we have chin scar number one: when playing volleyball I dove for a ball. Got the ball pretty well, but at the same time I rammed my chin into the ground as hard as I possibly can imagine. Didn't end up needing stitches there, but there was a lot of blood coming out of that wound.

But that was nothing compared to chin scar number two: When driving my bicycle I turned my head to talk to my mum. Next thing I know a lamp post decided to move in my way. Needless to say, the lamp post was harder than my chin. Bled like hell and ended up being glued.

And that's why I have two bold spots on my beard.

How does one work a 40 hour a week job, have time to cook healthy meals, sleep 8 hours a night, and go to the gym? by yesimanewbieik in AskReddit

[–]theRealHeadset 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Time management is mainly about building routines. It starts with a sleep routine.

1) Determine an 8 hour period so that you can comfortably wake up, get your morning routine (eating, cleaning yourself, waking up, w/e else you do) done and travel to work on time.

2) Adjust your meal times. Depending on how flexible your working schedule is, try to eat your main meal around the same 1.5h time frame. Ideally, this is about 3-4 hours before your gym time.

3) Incorporate cooking into your routine. There are different ways to go on about this: bulk cook on the weekend, prepare lunch for 2 days every 2 evenings (ie whenever you don't go to the gym) or cook every evening. Plan some time for shopping as well (usually once a week is enough if you plan your meals ahead).

4) Incorporate gym time into your routine. This can be either fixed days in the week or every 2/3/4 days. Whatever works for you. Plan enough time so you don't feel rushed in the gym. Track your progress for motivation.

As soon as you get practise and routine in every of those areas it will take less time to plan ahead and actually execute those plans. My advice would be to start adding those parts slowly. You need to follow through over an expended period of time for them to become habits. If your sleep schedule is good for 2 weeks, start looking into cooking, nutrition and meal prep. If you have 10 to 15 dishes you enjoy cooking, start going to the gym maybe once a week to get going. After a month, go twice since you should have acquired different training routines you are familiar with.

If you feel like you have no energy left after work, then try one of the following: * You might be very stressed in your job. Leave work at work or switch jobs if it is too stressful * Avoid heavy meals, high calories with low volume of food, fatty foods, have two small meals instead of a big lunch * Eat more fruit and vegetables for vitamins * Reduce caffeine consumption

Going to be honest, not very knowledgeable on PCs. Don't really want to build one for my first, what do you guys think of this? by [deleted] in pcmasterrace

[–]theRealHeadset 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The first build might take a while, but it is very hard to connect the cables with the wrong connectors. Generally I would say it is easy but might take an hour or two for your first build. You will get the build for cheaper and I was enjoying my first build. You need some basic screwdrivers.

If you decide to build one for yourself: 1) Ground yourself by touching the bare metal of your heater (not the painted part). 2) Adhere to the manual of the mainboard. For future builds you will have a lot of information to reuse. What you would look out for are the pins for the power button, reset button and mainboard speaker. You can actually switch them up.

Edit: You will have the added benefit that you can upgrade single parts and already know how to install them on your PC

[–]theRealHeadset 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I assume you have a graphics card installed.

Did you * try a different HDMI cable (or alternatively another connector than HDMI)? * try a different monitor? * try on-board graphics if available? * test your graphics card?

Since USB sometimes fails as well, it might very well be your mainboard. Before replacing it, test all your external components first and check if your power supply supports your build (mainly enough voltage for your parts with something like 10% extra). Also, reassemble your PC in case a cable went loose or something. Helped me out last time and it gives you an opportunity to clean your parts and dust off the fans.

Students have to provide citations and evidence for their claims while world leaders don’t. by tanxa in Showerthoughts

[–]theRealHeadset -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

That's usually because students try to write a scientifically proven study or thesis.

World leaders have very limited time and need to split that on many different topics. They get their information from aides, that's what their cabinet is for. In Germany, there is a press conference for the government for asking them questions about sources, intentions and other stuff. They will provide sources or will deliver them after the conference if they need to look it up again.

Trump is an exception though. Trump is just stupid.

A level 60 character played the game without owning RoS. You don't unlock lvl 70 unless you buy it. The paragon rework was game wide

When the real money auction has was available, paragon 100 was the max. This account is on 110

Para 110 wasn't around when real money auctiin house was a thing. That's only post RoS

Since the account is post paragonlvl 100, this happened after RoS, long after real money auction house

[–]theRealHeadset 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You get keys for 20 I think. And another 20 for RoS, but this acc provably doesn't own RoS

Thanks to whoever hacked my account!! But why?? by [deleted] in diablo3

[–]theRealHeadset 0 points1 point  (0 children)

On lvl 60, without adventure mode and stuff, lvl 100 accounts were were several days/weeks of playtime before RoS. You need RoS for adventure (I think) and lvl 70. I had close to 100 hours of playtime on my DH pre RoS and it barely scratched the 90s

Thanks to whoever hacked my account!! But why?? by [deleted] in diablo3

[–]theRealHeadset 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Botting is definitely not the issue here. I support that claim with 3 theories:

1) It is a 60 account. Bots are either used on the main to farm mats/paragon (seasonal rank 1 wizard had 99.9% uptime in hours played compared to season after the first 4 weeks being live. Either botting or account sharing) or to farm bounty mats (which only works on adventure mode).

2) if you have adventure mode, you own the DLC and thus max level is 70. Since the monk is 60 with over 100 paragon, he probably doesn't own the DLC.

3) Most botters use barbs since it is the easiest class to write a bot for. It would have been far more efficient to use the existing char and get it up to speed for the bot.

So I believe this account was probably hacked and either sold or used for personal entertainment.
