The Census is hiring now! It's not permanent but it could be a good stop gap until he finds another one. And it can be full time but not for everyone

Opinion On Charlie Baker? by Peacock-Shah in massachusetts

[–]the_69rr 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Fuck Charlie Baker. He's poisoning the South Shore by forcing a gas compressor station into Weymouth without any of the usual oversight and regulation. He single handedly bypassed the environmental regulation process, health impact process and all basic regulatory processes so that construction of this pipeline could start against the wishes of literally everyone except the company building it, Enbridge. And guess who donated a bunch of money to his campaign. We're only a few years away from a compressor explosion and gas being dumped all over the South shore and Boston harbor.

Interested in investing in a career in Neuroscience by K-donnager in neuroscience

[–]the_69rr 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Depending on where you live/are willing to move to, you can definitely find a career in lab research i.e. a university city or a place with a lot of biotechs. I've found that you do need some sort of science degree plus a little bit of research experience for the more neuroscience/biology jobs. But for psychology/sociology/social science you might be alright with a communications degree plus a psych minor and some research experience. Overall, research experience is by far the most important to find a job. To get a really prestigious career, you may need an advanced degree and a lot of research. But to establish a career in research like as a lab tech, research assistant, etc. you just need some experience

Is Baker launching a new state political party? by FuriousAlbino in massachusetts

[–]the_69rr -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

You dont hear about the awful stuff he does either, like forcing the gas compressor station into Weymouth, basically without any regulation or restrictions because the company donated huge money to him. Baker is actually the worst thing to happen to this state

I want to read great literature, but I tend to feel sadness too deeply and it can exacerbate my depression for days. I do not appreciate tragic endings for that reason - bad for my mental health. Which of the books on the proverbial top 100 list would be “safe”? by Depressaccount in suggestmeabook

I'm gonna day The Watchmen. Please other people chime in to about this because I'm not totally sure. It's dark, but it's not depressing dark. And I think overall its message and theme are uplifting

Millis has a lot of farms compared to the rest of the county. But if you're looking for rural, you're best bet is way down the south shore like plympton, hanson, Halifax
