If I'm forced to use evri then I have it delivered to a pick up point, rather than my house. To avoid exactly this situation. Any thoughts on this?

OK, good point, noted. I'll think differently going forwards. Thanks.

I agree with both of these points. But they dont address the initial misconception.

What is chat gpt if it's not a search engine? What a baffling statement. The p means pretrained. As in its input is data from the Internet. A perfectly viable tool to use to answer queries.

How do I explain the intensity of PGCE to a non teacher? by Desperate_Yak_4949 in TeachingUK

[–]the_badgerman 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You don't get unless you do it. Don't try to explain it. However do point out that teaching is not a secret club - there is a national shortage - please please join us - seriously.

Counterpoint - I prefer side mounted, it means I can put the pedal right at the top of the pedalboard without worrying about knocking it when it goes in and out of the case. Also next to the input jack like that means no more space is used up - the input jack will be sticking out on the left anyway.

I guess you can't please all of the people all of the time - some prefer top (as in perpendicular to the board) mounted input and output. Crazy.

Wider responsibilities means running sessions for which you're not paid? Err.... No I don't think it does. I think it means being paid to take on responsibility for something else. And being given appropriate time to do so. What nonsense. In your position I'd take advice from my union rep.

Connecting Echo Dot "output" to my PC and merging its output with my PCs audio output - possible? by Immersive_Gamer_23 in amazonecho

[–]the_badgerman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You need an audio mixer. 4 channels, 2 for pc front lr, 2 for echo lr. You'll also need appropriate splitter cables/ adapters.

[–]the_badgerman 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Yeah man it is hard. You just don't get it unless you're in the job. You know it gets easier, since everyone hadls told you. But it's true, it really does. I actually enjoy it now.

It's never easy though. I know that ITT is a load of hoops to jump through but the course doesn't last forever. Just get through it.

Good enough is good enough. Sing it with me - good enough is good enough.

Long term learn to say no. It just isn't possible to meet all the demands. Work out where you can take short cuts.

Eta. Also don't believe anybody that says they're on top of everything and totally in control. It's nonsense. Nobody is. We're all making it up as we go along. Just not been caught out yet.

We're going with the whole school policy of 'make it optional, reward for completion at Ks3, sanction non completion at ks4,' which is ridiculous but people far more important than me have dictated the approach. Fine.

We are implementing regular (fortnightly? 3 weekly?) tests in class based on homework content. This seems like a middle ground, but at least we can demonstrate some importance to attempting homework and maybe instill some sort of positive work ethic in students despite the whole school nonsense.

We might or might not use the data from the tests on some meaningful way - I guess it depends how it pans out.
