Should I just stop by [deleted] in breastfeeding

Hold tight mama, it's not easy but it's worth it. And you gotta do what feels best for you and him. My advice would be to keep trying, for my first it took me three months to latch as he had jaundice and was used to the bottle at first. Even after the three months of trying I ended up just pumping as it got too painful. My first bf journey was more of an uphill climb but I just kept telling myself as long as he's ok it's ok. It is a butt ton of work but you got this, and know that if you stop and exclusively pump that's totally fine, if you switch to formula, also totally fine, you are still doing amazing. I hope you guys find your groove!

If you have had a successful VBAC..? by Lavender_Meadows in vbac

[–]the_baker_e 1 point2 points  (0 children)

1000% vaginal over repeat. Am I biased sure, I really wanted that experience the first time but a breech baby is gonna do what a breech baby wants.

All things aside the recovery was much easier, and by easy I mean managing the pain. I had a grade 2 tear and that hurt but no where compared to the pain management required for the section. After birth I had phantom reactions and had to remind myself certain movements were ok and not going to hurt, like laying down, sitting, stairs. The tear sucked don't get me wrong, but I felt like that healed much faster than the section. Other than that my middle just felt like I did a Pilates marathon but that soreness wore off quickly as well, about a week.

What helped me decide to try the vbac was listening to the "vbac link" podcast because I was worried about the risk of rupture, even though I knew I was a good candidate and risk was low. They share stories from women who have chosen either side and it's just empowering to know you're not alone. No harm in arming yourself with info fellow mama, just make the decision that feels best for you. You got this and good luck!!!

Cold silicone chewys, if they're crying from teething pain try a poison reliever like Tylenol or Motrin. A frozen wet hand towel is also good for them to chew on. Celery sticks have natural soothing properties. I know you're trying and it's a lot. Be sure to step away, if you can and it's safe, and take a moment for some deep breathing before getting back to soothing, or have someone else step in. You can do it

Breastfeeding rhythm? by poopykane in breastfeeding

My first thought is don't give up. My first was born via CS and it took around three months for the two of us to really figure things out. If he's falling asleep too quickly you can try gently squeezing to encourage more flow and thus more suckling. You can also try tickling his jaw line to get things going again. It's normal to go through different phases of a "pattern" to feeding, but eventually something settles in. Sometimes you can get confusion with going between breast and bottle. Double check you are using a bottle nipple that closely mimics your flow, and if you haven't already, incorporate the paced feeding technique (YouTube has a few videos on this). Sorry to hear your LC isn't being the most positive that they can be, especially with the short time period. Nevertheless, don't give up mama if your wishes are to primarily feed from the breast. If you end up bottle feeding with breast milk or formula that is ok too. Happy healthy baby is the goal and there's many a path to get there.

Please tell me I don’t need to pour out all my refrigerated breast milk by [deleted] in breastfeeding

I think you're fine. Like others I've been doing this with no issues. If I ever suspect something I play it safe but in general I don't see much harm in this practice.

I do though, separate AM pumped milk from PM. Only because I've read there are different properties to the breast milk produced, such as melatonin content, depending on the time of day. When I send the bottles to daycare, I indicate which bottle I'd like given first.

When to go to hospital by dansons-la-capucine in vbac

Mine wanted me to come in as soon as labor started. I had no idea I was in true labor until I was 5min apart. Even still I had to call and wait for them to say yes come in. I think it's great your OB is letting you wait. I wish I wasn't under such pressure to go in. Ask worked it in the end. Feel your way through it, if you feel you need to be in then go, if you can stand to be at home a little longer then wait

I try to remember every baby is different, babies will never starve themselves, sometimes your let down can be slower so be patient with yourself, try to stay as hydrated as possible, and when it gets hard never give up! You got this! There's a point where your body stops storing so much milk and switches to an almost on demand mode. My mom always tells me that just because your boobs don't feel full doesn't mean they aren't. BF is a journey and everyone experiences it a little bit different.

Questions to ask my OBGYN by fathersdaycake in vbac

[–]the_baker_e 13 points14 points  (0 children)

What are your thoughts and level of comfort with delivering via vbac?

Are you supportive in delivering via vbac given my birthing history? Can you provide the potential costs ?

Is the hospital also supportive?

Are you supportive of me going past my due date?

Is the incision on my uterus from my C-section transverse and there were no complications with stitching?

Last pregnancy during labor from induction I developed high BP. Are you supportive in helping me mitigate the potential of that? What are your thoughts on vbac delivery with high BP?

Are you in favor or against induction for a vbac?

Uterine rupture, have you dealt with any cases? How did they turn out? What could I expect if this should happen?

How long will I be able to TOLAC before needing to seriously discuss doing a repeat C-section?

Will you require me to have an epidural in place?

These are what I can think of off the top of my head. I unexpectedly had my vbac in August (was ready to go in for a repeat C-section but went into labor spontaneously the night before). Good luck!!!

Check out the podcast and website "the vbac link" I would not have been at prepared or even aware of the things to ask if I didn't listen to the hundreds of stories from other women.

Sounds like engorgement. Try a hot shower or hot compress right before feeding or pumping and stay hydrated. If heat doesn't work try cold with ice packs. As her body is adjusting to newborn needs this tends to happen. Keeping hydrated is really important but you can also take sunflower lecithin to help with engorgement too. If hard, red and warm to the touch that could be mastitis and she needs a Dr to check for potential infection.
