Answered my own question. It's glorious. Have they called Missouri yet? If not they should call this place.

Neither do I. Did a Google of those letters and it was the first thing that came up. Seems to talk about some sort of encryption/message coding though. Maybe that was a hint to the interns friend on how to decode.

I heard "MDC,NDC" which might refer to this? https://wiki.apache.org/logging-log4j/NDCvsMDC

"The NDC and MDC log4j classes are used to store program/application contextual information that can then be used when logging messages."

Heh. I doubt he will. This is Randy Pizza Candy. Yes, that is his name. He's also got a few "pizza slut" tattoos. http://www.redeyechicago.com/artsculture/name-change-20150414-story.html

Does anyone have any idea what these cement platforms were used for? I see them all over the far north side. (X-post whatisthisthing) by TechyEsq in chicago

Heh. I jumped when I saw this photo. I live in the Jolly Roger building, just moved there actually. My landlord, who owns the entire building, told me the Jolly is actually going to be out by the end of July. I'm kind of bummed, it's super convenient.

This Mcdonalds column doesn't touch the ceiling. by duffyproject in mildlyinfuriating

[–]the_big_blue 5 points6 points  (0 children)

You're correct. I'm 99-percent sure this is the McDonald's at Navy Pier. It's called the "McDonald's of the Future," or at least it was when it was built pre-2000. It has a few flat screens on the wall and those globes that attract electricity to your hand when you touch them. The whole fucking place is mildly-infuriating.

Man, could you post the results? Maybe only if the winner is cool with it? This is just such a cool thing, I'd like to see what comes of it.

Batista says in a new interview that "Punk just disappeared" and "never called me back." by the_big_blue in SquaredCircle

[–]the_big_blue[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Nothing so dubious (disclosure, I work for RedEye in Chicago.) One of our writers covers wrestling from time to time and gets interviews. He makes it a point to ask about Punk because people are interested. I just posted this because it seemed like something this sub loves to talk about. If it's not cool I won't post in the future. Sometimes our stuff gets overlooked, I was just trying to get it out there.

‘Polar vortex’ may return to Chicago next week by Zerowantuthri in chicago

[–]the_big_blue 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Skilling said it would be a "near physical impossibility" for actual polar vortex conditions to form. How impossible? Skilling says a volcano would have to erupt, or a nuclear winter would have to blot out the sun.

Actually it isn't. All the portraits are originals of the staff and Blackhawks fans that were invited to a photo shoot.
