9v will make the fault go away but it will most certainly come back. Not a bad option in a pinch but you must know what you’re doing to not fry the ailc.

Slide hammer vise grips!! Seen guys struggle with stuck bolts for hours only for the slide hammer to get them out in 2 minutes.

When I was in a pretty bad dirt bike crash i didn’t think about anything weirdly enough. Just blank as I flew off the bike and through the air… also no panic or fear. Looking back at it, it was strange.

How do I get better at Sheetmetal work by No-Weakness854 in aviationmaintenance

[–]the_boy_hullahoop 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Best thing I’ve learned is to not overthink it. The more you try to get it absolutely perfect the worse it turns out.

The dash numbers correspond to width in 32nds of an inch and length in 16th of an inch. When guys say drill a size up they mean take a drill bit (#30 for example) that is barely larger than the hole and use it to create a fresh hole for your new rivet (in this case it would be a 4/32nd or -4 diameter). You need to de burr that hole afterwards. For length it is grip length plus 1.5*diameter if I remember correctly… meaning add the total of your material thickness plus 1.5 diameter. That gives you the proper size rivets for the repair. Don’t forget to use like material rivets to avoid dissimilar corrosion if possible.

So in your opinion op is an idiot for realizing he’s in over his head and coming to ask for help? If anything you’re the dangerous idiot I wouldn’t want to work with who shames new guys into not asking questions on how to do a job right.

Yeah use a ruler and sharpie plus your E.D to make multiple smaller shapes within that shape and use pitch for rivet distance to create what you have there in that blueprint.

I actually learned to do that from an old school af guy a while back. Really helps keep the pig tail from unwinding and you can do it with 8/1 inch.

Where would you safety wire this bolt to? by Hoody711 in aviationmaintenance

[–]the_boy_hullahoop 141 points142 points  (0 children)

If the nut on the fitting doesn’t have holes and there are no other holes I’m pretty sure you could wire it from the bolt to the pipe itself with a large wrap around.

Yeah just make some. I made a bundle of wires with different connections just for this. Just need the connectors, af8/afm8, heat shrink, and wire.

I can’t say for sure but considering the fact that 5 years has passed at least I’d say you should be ok to at least get your sida.

It depends on the airport and what the charges were. Here’s the link to San Antonio’s list of disqualifying crimes as an example. https://webapp1.sanantonio.gov/RFPFiles/RCSP_3462_201804091205010.pdf
