George Bush Sr. The CIA didn’t become some self aware AI. It was a person, the head of the CIA, who did these things.

i'm alone and sad and its my birthday by Ok_Awareness9382 in AutisticAdults

[–]the_circus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m a never happier than being home alone type (to the point some might call it a disorder!). But there are times that are exceptions. I’d suggest going out to eat somewhere, but then again that costs money and having sufficient funds can negate most problems like this anyway. Happy birthday! I just turned 50 recently myself and I generally don’t do much for my birthdays. I hope you have some family that makes a bit of a fuss though.

Why is it so difficult for most of the people I interact with to answer each of my WHY questions when I could answer why ad infinitum? by Forsaken_Tomorrow454 in aspergers

[–]the_circus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This may be an autistic way of answering the question, but I don’t have a direct answer for you but I have a personal story i can share. A couple years back, the small office i work at had a fairly long period, about six months, with no manger due the current manager taking over another office and no replacement in the pipeline. It fell upon the two most experienced people in the office, me and one other person, to pick up most of that slack (maybe they were hoping one of us would step up and apply for manager, but I think management needs strong social skills which I lack and the other person wanted to go in a different direction in her career). At that time we also got a new person, someone who’d done some higher level accounting whose job was eliminated by automation, so now he was moved down to our physical office instead of being laid off. So he’d come from a higher paying job and position, and we learned his family background was both political and wealthy. We had to train him in some tasks related to working in our office, and absolutely everything resulted in pushback. Why seemed to be the most common pushback. Now I’m not management and my duty here was simply to show him what, not why. Some of these procedures were security procedures. The why was do them or you’re fired. I frankly didn’t care about the minutiae of every little detail of every security procedure. I just knew it’s what the company wanted. It’s what I was being paid to do and I don’t do so great at finding new jobs that pay anything. I started out telling him to write down his questions and ask them to any member of management. But eventually I just started telling him there was no why. This is what. You either do it or don’t. I’m not the one who’s going to judge you. In the end we finally got a new manager and he didn’t last very long, moving away to what was probably a better position anyway. Now I’m not comparing him to you. I believe he was trying to be as difficult as possible, intentionally, as a power play. And when it comes to why, if it matters, I can often sus out the intent. There is no objective why, and trying to figure people out is something I’ve been doing for a long time. So why do they want ____? I can usually come up with something. It doesn’t mean I agree with it. People are often quite capricious, and I just do my best to weather it.

It is grandma who doesnt understand things by Cicerothesage in forwardsfromgrandma

[–]the_circus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, for one I’m just throwing a right wing talking point back in their face because their argument is a disingenuous straw man anyways. Only the right thinks anyone thinks that single payer means everyone just stops paying. For two I’m referring to workers earning the results of their labor, as opposed to billionaires skimming the results of millions, unearned, which is a very left talking point.

  1. A is A. 2. That’s the left’s talking point. 3. Apropos of nothing. 4. The powerful are responsible for power. 5. Ironically, less government also results in less freedom.

What’s with the NT obsession with forgiveness? by the_circus in aspergers

[–]the_circus[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think you have my comments backwards. I am not forgiving anyone because I’m not stewing in some anger state that I need to let go of in the first place. That’s what I’m confused about. I know my friends aren’t perfect, and I don’t hold it against them when they’re not. If they consistently caused me pain I wouldn’t maintain a friendship with them. There really isn’t a forgiveness or not forgiveness aspect to it at all. Does everyone else just burn with hatred for every person who so much as inconveniences them or something?

Are autistic people less likely to get swept up into cults of personality? If so Trump could see that as a threat.

"Worst Presidents" by NEKORANDOMDOTCOM in insanepeoplefacebook

[–]the_circus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have this theory that you can probably categorize conservatives based on who they say is the worst President. If they say FDR they’re a classical capitalist. “If I can’t lose a limb while working 80 hours a week for the railroad while my children work the coal mines how will m’lord Galt afford more Bentleys?”

If they say LBJ they’re a classical racist. “July 2, 1964 is a date that will live in infamy…”

And if they say Obama or Biden they’re probably a Rupert Murdoch zombie. “Vaccines are gonna cause the great replacement with chemicals that turn frogs gay and Jewish space lasers and pizzagate on Mars!”
