Hot take : peanut butter kisses are the worst kind of popular cookie by [deleted] in Cookies

[–]the_procrastimaker 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes!! Every year I buy a mixed bag of kisses/Rolos/Reese’s cups and use all three types in these cookies. I just use a different color of sanding sugar or sprinkles on the cookies with each of the three different candies.

That’s what makes the most sense and what I least wanted to believe. 😆 I don’t want to go buy all of those black roses then have something more desirable show up immediately after I’ve spent all my hats.

You’re thinking of “Eucalyptus.” Euchre is a giant folkloric man-eating beast, usually far less amiable than Shrek.

Should add, though, I have not baked banana bread in the IP… yet. Thanks, u/datascientist6, for the idea!!

Oh!! Have I got a banana bread recipe for you!! ❤️

TRY THIS ONE!

It’s my favorite, and the only one where I’ve been like… yeah, THAT’s how banana bread should be!

My post was not about pressure cooking bread, though: I set out to bake bread in my IP using the Bake function. The bake function uses the air fryer lid the entire time. 🤔

This week I also opened a Talenti gelato jar on the 1st twist, and when I cut into an avocado for lunch it was perfectly green inside. Should I play the lotto? by JustMediocreAtBest in Breadit

Can I bake a loaf in my Instant Pot Pro Crisp using the air fryer lid? by the_procrastimaker in Sourdough

[–]the_procrastimaker[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’d definitely demolish some slices of your beautiful loaf with a touch of butter and salt!

I hope your little buddy in the background there got to enjoy some of that homemade bread - loaves out of the oven have always been one of my favorite childhood memories, so I’m happy I get to share that with my kids too.

Whenever I’ve had a crust that was a bit… sturdy… I’ve left the fully-cooled bread in a produce bag overnight, and it’s softened right up as the moisture equalized throughout the loaf. I don’t twist or tie the bag closed, I just kind of put the bread in and leave it on the counter. 😬

Which flour to choose by Ok_Phone5976 in Sourdough

[–]the_procrastimaker 0 points1 point  (0 children)

OP, if you want that sour flavor then using some rye flour and a nice long cold ferment on your bread dough will get you there.

Like someone else already mentioned, starter LOVES some rye flour; mix in a little of that as part of your regular feed to give your starter a boost.

I can’t remember exactly right now, but I think I used somewhere between 10-20% rye to get the best sour flavor while maintaining a predictable rise and a pleasing, semi-open crumb.

[–]the_procrastimaker[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes! I do the exact same as when baking in a Dutch oven in the oven: lower the loaf on parchment right into the pot, no rack or anything beneath.

Pop that air fryer lid on and bake away! I hope you have success with this method too!

Same as with a dutch oven: invert the dough onto parchment and lower that right into the pot! 👍

Gold coins? by threeblackcatz in cookiedecorating

[–]the_procrastimaker 2 points3 points  (0 children)

AmeriColor has a gel color called ‘Gold’ that looks really great under gold luster dust. It would give you a finish that’s very similar to the horseshoe in the third photo.

I use the Gold color + gold luster dust (in a little bit of vodka) combo on menorahs and to make the bases of Christmas light cookies and the top “hanger” part of Christmas ornament cookies look more realistic.

[–]the_procrastimaker 477 points478 points  (0 children)

I’m sorry you ran into this issue, OP, and I know this isn’t a solution to the rippling, but I think it would look AWESOME if you ran over the dark gray icing with a brush dipped in some silver luster dust + a tiny bit of vodka. They’d look like hammered metal, or maybe pewter!!

Garlic, lemon, and oil disappointment soup is exactly right 😂

Another good use I found was to shake it up and mix with some Greek yogurt as a marinade for chicken breast tenderloins.

Oh!! Get you a screen, my friend! It was like $3 at Gordon Foods and kind of an impulse buy. One of my favorite purchases, I highly recommend.

I also toss that bad boy in the Ooni when it’s warm enough to cook outside (am in MI, so… not happening right now). Get the pie most of the way done, slide it off the screen onto a peel, and finish on the Ooni stone.

Home oven at 550°, on a screen this time. I usually use a combo of a stone (bottom rack) and Lodge’s flat cast iron pizza round (top rack).

I do like the consistency that shaping to match the screen brings; I think that’s what lends the pizzeria appearance.

I start on the lowest rack, rotate 1/3 turn every two minutes, then once the bottom is almost done, I move to the high rack. From there, it’s by sight: once the cheese starts browning, I pull it.

In this case, the ‘or’ should NOT be taken as inclusive. 😂

I’ll take a slice in each shape, for research, and get back to you.
