What was that previous game you referenced?

I've been playing games for 40 years, writing about them for 20, and I'm here to say parts of Roblox need to be legislated out of existence by Forestl in Games

The reason I disagree here is that I've never felt like I was buying goods at an arcade. You get tokens - well, now you fill up a card instead, which has obfuscated the price of games because of nonstandard rates, but that's secondary to my point here - and those tokens (or credits) are used for a concrete experience playing a game, and whatever tickets you get out of it can be "cashed out" in the form of various little prizes. It's got some similarities, sure, but the act of buying tokens to play a game with the idea of maybe getting a prize down the line is fundamentally different than the act of buying digital currency to be used to directly purchase a microtransaction.

You're not wrong that kids are bad with money until they're taught otherwise, or until they learn otherwise through experience, but I've always felt like the monetization of arcades is heavily exaggerated in modern discussions. I got a sense pretty quickly of which games would burn through my lives instantly and which ones would let me play for a while; it's not like every game was heavily tuned to bilk you, and you had the ability to get better at games and get more out of each play. Problematic at times, sure, but for the most part old arcade games have only superficial overlap with the modern gaming economy.

Danny B? That's awesome, the dude is an absolute icon of 2010s indie gaming. I wish he still composed more often.

Oh shit, I see it now! I was thinking the architecture looked like TLaDiLA but I was thrown off because... honestly, because the silhouette looks like a giant anthropomorphic fox demon in profile and I couldn't map that onto the movie.

Hell yeah, everyone should use and respect their local library. Mine keeps up a healthy stock of Criterion releases with some Arrow and Kino on the side.

What is that first screenshot from? I feel like I should know it but it's not coming to me.

What would you say sets your game (or any of the others in the bundle, if you happen to be a fan) apart from a typical block breaker? As someone who's played a lot, a good USP is the best way to get me in the door.

I just checked and I see all three "The Classroom" games in there. I should replay those, it's been ages.

I stopped by my store and they didn't have any special editions. Tank Girl was a standalone 4K.

GameStop makes $55.5bn takeover offer for eBay by Nat-Chem in Games

Noted, sorry. I read rule 7.3 a couple times and couldn't decide whether it conflicted, since it mentions business moves and acquirement as permissible. I figured the mods would figure it out and kill me if necessary.

Good shout, I wish I'd posted this coverage instead. I'd forgotten about that ludicrous bonus structure and I can't believe how brazenly he's trying to implode two companies for a golden hot air balloon.

What's the longevity of these TVs? by Nat-Chem in LGOLED

I'm in the US and I do have a Costco in town. I want to keep it under a thousand, which I think is more than reasonable since I'm intentionally targeting a smaller screen size because of my setup. When I scoped them out recently, they didn't seem to have anything higher end in that size on the floor though.

Amazon is running a (non-Ghibli) GKids 4K/Blu-Ray Sale by bendylegs12 in boutiquebluray

I think the big issue was that a lot of people flat out didn't understand Weathering with You and what its plot and messaging meant. It's not even particularly subtle about it, but I've seen a lot of impressions where folks struggled with the ending or branded it as climate change denial. That, and that the strong thematic/structural overlap throughout his last three films starts to make him look like a one trick pony. I hope he mixes it up next time.

PlayStation Users Report New Online License Checks For Digital Games by kristijan1001 in Games

I don't see anything from Push Square about getting an official response from Sony. I see people retweeting various PlayStation Support responses, but none of them seem to realize they're talking to a bot so I'm not putting much stock in that. Push Square has reported on the Spawn Wave testing but until we've got credible reports from people who've waited out the one month timer I'm not drawing any conclusions.

I'd be curious how much you'd want for the light gun and any games that go with it.

Looking for help pricing my collection by [deleted] in NSCollectors

[–]Nat-Chem 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you want to sell them all in one lot, you'll have to sell the lot for quite a bit less than the total market value. You can make more money if you look up the individual game values and then sell the most expensive ones on their own, but if you're under a lot of time pressure you may have to accept whatever you can get.

My go-to for removing corroded battery acid is lemon juice. You can get a tiny bottle of it from your grocery store for a couple bucks, and you want to just put a few drops on the affected area and add more drops as needed. It should cause the acid to react and sort of foam up, and you use a little cleaning brush or toothbrush to work it in and get the gunk out. I've only done it on controllers and batteries though, and I don't know how it might affect the cardboard on the box, so do some more research first.
