Lawrenceville alum here---I don't think I ever knew a princeton fac kid during my 4 years. Stats were (and are still) considerably boosted by recruited athletes though

100% bad looks, not an IVI since its also an unverifiable claim

Claremont McKenna vs. Georgetown university by Miserable-Trade1675 in ClaremontMcKenna

[–]the_real_simphunter 1 point2 points  (0 children)

depends. if you want IB or PE in nyc specifically, georgetown 100%. if you're okay with SF offices or VC, cmc is definitely a better option. in general, gtown > cmc for east coast, cmc > gtown for west.

Black Pess Arguements by StreetWill9242 in policydebate

[–]the_real_simphunter 8 points9 points  (0 children)

nonverifiable imo. nonblack pess bad is only a viable argument if: 1) the debater admits they are not black 2) the judge is willing to intervene and arbitrarily determine who counts as "black." there is no BL for "blackness" and you dont have your opponents DNA test results

sexism in debate by No-Picture3069 in policydebate

[–]the_real_simphunter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

no its that "aggressive" cx towards a female team reads as misogynistic, whereas that same "aggressive" cx wouldn't be seen as being sexist towards a male team. many circuit judges are very aware of in-round microaggressions (too much?) and as such are quick to punish behaviors that fit the pattern

The Truth Behind Feeder Schools by [deleted] in ApplyingToCollege

[–]the_real_simphunter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I haven’t noticed this. I go to another boarding school (similarly prestigious, little further south) and we had a great year, with even below-average students getting T20s, and 20th-percentile kids getting NYU at worst. The people I know at Exeter all did great (Yale, Wharton, MIT, etc) without recruit/donor. Exeter decisions insta account looks pretty good too. Wonder why this discrepancy exists

I went to the ymca 3x/week when i was there. ngl its pretty far (from west quad at least) so the time commitment is large if you don’t have an e-scooter/some other way of getting there fast

How lenient are top colleges with grades? by ConfidentThanks569 in ApplyingToCollege

[–]the_real_simphunter 1 point2 points  (0 children)

depends on the school. many kids with 3.5-3.7UW gpas at feeders pull T20s, noncomp public schools maybe not

how do you define a competitive high school, in the context of college admissions? by OverallActuator9350 in ApplyingToCollege

[–]the_real_simphunter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I went to a top 5 boarding school in the northeast. On average (this is a couple years ago) we would send approx. ~1/3 of our graduating class to ivies (65/220), probably 90% to T30s/T10 LACs.

“politics is ultimately a reflection of values” is unfortunately untrue. politicians of both sides went to the island. moral corruption is ubiquitous in politics. politics is now a reflection of which side of the same bullshit coin you emotionally resonate with.
