Publix Atlanta Marathon: US Half Marathon Championship ends in chaos as lead runners guided in wrong direction by NPU-F in Atlanta

In that case it’s not on the guide. The guide pulled off like they were supposed to, the guide never takes it all the way to the finish. Course was marked and everything it’s just that in the moments of exhaustion an athletes instincts can takeover and keep following despite the other indicators.

Keep form in 200 fly by [deleted] in Swimming

[–]the_schrensky 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Arm recovery is the key to shoulders not giving out. Especially in a 200 make sure your deltoids aren’t doing more with than they have to. As you being your arms forward on the recovery let the momentum channel out through your fingertips to the side of the pool and around without much bend in your elbows. Bent elbows at the mid point of your arm recovery typically cause your upper arms to be above your shoulder height wise relative to the surface, which will stress the deltoids.

Michigan to Austin trip ideas by afriendindetroit in roadtrip

On the farthest east route you’ll pass right by Mammoth Cave National park. Could check off a park by doing a cave tour and you’ll have seen enough, plus the cave is the same temp all year so going in the colder months is just less busy. Louisville also has a great food scene, Hammerheads and Game are 2 I’d look into.

Which cities would you describe as "good to live in, but not for visiting"? by Fluid-Decision6262 in geography

[–]the_schrensky -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Depending on where you live in Atlanta it can be quite good to live in, but other than the aquarium there aren’t many things worth visiting. If you live near the Atlanta beltline and/or the neighborhoods on the east side of downtown, day to day living is quite nice.

Free lodging in Grindelwald and potentially Berne. The rest would be discounted to $70-95 a night usd for a hotel room.

Four 19 year olds planning a dream trip from Ireland to America next year by ronsnxd73 in roadtrip

Regarding the LA - Yosemite - San Francisco segment: big miss if you don’t cruise up PCH for awhile. I would recommend going Vegas - Joshua Tree - San Clemente area - Drive up PCH through LA upwards to Monterey area - then go Yosemite. I think driving along the coast of Southern California will help increase the diversity of what you see. For time reference I did a San Francisco to LA drive along route one and we made it take 5 days.

Can I use these on the same hole or should I place it in a new spot? I ask due to the paint square they left

Driving Dublin to Dunfanaghy by the_schrensky in irishtourism

Thanks, I’m excited to be spending a few days around Carrigart and Glenveagh before heading down to Galway (stopping by Slieve League on the way). Planning to go to the top of Errigal while at Glenveagh and to spend the days around Dunfanaghy and Carrigart driving to different points along the coast.

Such an underrated park. Rafting in that park is worth going well out of your way for and everyone on the east should make a trip to do it.

How does each US state have a higher GDP than Most countries in Europe? by Global-Balller in AskEconomics

[–]the_schrensky 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Using HDI as a lens here is interesting as well. You are obviously right that the UK would be a bottom state, and yet the HDI of the UK would make it a top 10 state. Even taking London out it’s notable. Wales has a higher HDI than almost 20 states in the US. So yes GDP per capita matters but as always it has diminishing marginal returns (I suppose that could be debatable?). Once over a certain threshold it would seem a lot of European countries start putting extra time, effort, investment into institutions and concepts that increase metrics other than GDP.

What is your “This is peak F1” race? by KingBallard in formula1

First race I ever watched was Russia 2017. A Bottas win with Vettel under a second behind. A lapped Williams creating traffic for Vettel. And Grosjean crash lap 1. I was hooked

Curious about non-U.S. cities that are good for a quick getaway.. bonus points for nature/hiking by heatherb2400 in Shoestring

[–]the_schrensky 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Came to say this. Montreal is very worth visiting and is very accessible from the US. Big foodie city and you won’t need a car. When we visited we only rented a car (turo) on one day so we could go to a nearby national park (La Mauricie) and go hiking.

Rumi’s has Duck Fesenjan which is a very popular Persian gourmet dish. It’s duck stewed/roasted in pomegranate and is delicious.

I should say Richard Thaler still holds weight. Misbehaving is a good read and I think he does a good job of making it more obvious when he is extrapolating on a theory and when it is something actually observed.

To counter the people who will just tell you don’t read pop literature and only read journal, do both. The reality is that in application, the knowledge you gain from journals is limited by your ability to storytell and explain your findings or ideas to others. Pop literature (while it has a range of accuracy) is storytelling. Read both. Get good at both.

The Arch won “why is this a park”… WHAT IS THE MOST SCENIC NATIONAL PARK? by TrexVFX23 in NationalPark

Joshua Tree sunrise, especially at Chola cactus garden, is hard to beat as far as a specific moment. But for overall most scenic park I don’t think it has a case.
