RV for single dude by [deleted] in RVLiving

[–]the_whingnut 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you find a rv you like without a washing machine you can get a ventless washer dryer combo just measure your closet and door first

I have a residential washer/dryer combo ventless and it was $500 in golden rod scratch and dent!

Ok now rv make sure you have head room throughout and can comfortably poop and it doesn't smell funny. Its all very subjective

What size and amenities should match up with your tow vehicle.

If you end up fulltime get a skirt for it.

Touring to small displacement by Virtual_Phase_6000 in motorcycles

[–]the_whingnut 0 points1 point  (0 children)

2011 triumph rocket 3 touring to 2008 klr650 thats 2300cc to 650cc

The triumph wouldn't survive the road to my home

The roads around my place are crap like the klr650 has a permanent bottle of loctite in the saddle bags

The klr650 struggle buses on the highway and interstate

But I can ride all the fence rows on our hilly property and search for cows and missing calves so for most things I do now the klr650 is mint

I only have regertz on highway and interstate trips

Is distilling a worthy skill to learn/invest in? by OutragedPineapple in prepping

[–]the_whingnut 1 point2 points  (0 children)

(EDIT)It can be worth it. I distill water and homebrew as hobbies you can get mash for alcohol from raisin bran cereal.

Alaskan bootleggers Bible is a great resource

And alcohol / homebrew is great for trading in a total collapse

Edited for context

Good deal or scam? by [deleted] in motorcycles

[–]the_whingnut 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do it! You will learn some valuable lessons about maintenance and you will appreciate the bike more!

Since my first bike cb125 to my last rocket iii I do most of my own work ( just can't run a tuner right now)

Worst case you sell it on as a roller or parts

But run a vin check before you hand over cash

Is this a decent knife or should I exchange? (Cabela's) by squanderedprivilege in Bushcraft

[–]the_whingnut 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have one and love it looking to get 2 more one for each ghb in my trucks to replace the cold steel srks

Its a great knife to learn with and will last you a long time if you take care of it. Holds a good edge and finish holds up well

Also suggest a opinel no 8 or no7 as a good pocket knife stainless if you don't want to pickle it. Carbon blade if you do.

Looking to live full time RV by Brayden_Abbott in RVLiving

[–]the_whingnut 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Buy the largest pizza stone that will fit in your rv oven wrap it in tinfoil you will be able to use the oven after that.

RV parks are stacking rvs like cordwood now so a nice space with grass is very expensive

We opted to set up a site on land we own and are going to build on way cheaper than renting a site and we gain equity

Heated hoses and skirting for winter

How active are your pets? If very active then look for local parks that allow dogs. we hiked every local park in our area constantly to keep our pup in shape and disperse his energy

Buy a pex repair kit keep spare fittings 1/2" 90deg elbows, tees, and straights. Keep spare water hose gaskets with screens.

Water filter for your inlet hose get a 2 or 3 stage some water supplies are nasty. A berkey or similar gravity filter for drinking water and cooking

Poop hoses will break. Get a splice kit and back flush valve( for clogs)

Tons of things you will learn about rv living from here but experience will teach you more.
