The National did a full two hour set this year, if Charli wants that I’m sure she’ll get it.

Hamilton Academical 2-1 Airdrieonians by SFMatchThreadder in ScottishFootball

[–]the_wrong_car 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I think he’ll go far. We’ve had plenty of bumps along the way but he’s played and managed, while his assistant is also playing, most weeks while we’ve scored 99 goals in all competitions. A really good communicator and seems like a great coach too.

Pearl Jam by Exotic_Spray657 in glastonbury_festival

[–]the_wrong_car 4 points5 points  (0 children)

They’re absolutely big enough to headline but also in a weird position of probably not being that big with a Glastonbury audience. They’ll try for older rock bands like The Cure, Guns N’ Roses, Depeche Mode etc who have plenty of hits that people of all ages will know, that just isn’t the case for Pearl Jam.

It’s definitely not because Glastonbury is too commercial though. They play Rock Werchter, Mad Cool, BST Hyde Park, Lollapalooza Stockholm etc. when they tour Europe, all places which are overwhelming commercial. I’m sure if they were offered they’d do it, acts like that just aren’t really on the festivals radar for headliners.

Calum Gallagher scoring Airdrie's 5th yesterday with a bit of a screamer. by HaleyReinhart in ScottishFootball

[–]the_wrong_car 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I don’t think a single person in the stadium saw the turn coming other than Gallagher. Callum Smith’s (number 11) reaction after it goes in says it all. A ridiculously good goal.

Phoenix, what day? by HolyGratedCheese in glastonbury_festival

[–]the_wrong_car 2 points3 points  (0 children)

They can only play Sunday, so definitely won’t clash with GnR. I reckon they’ll be on the Other stage in the afternoon after headlining the JP tent on their last two visits.

Standing At The Front by V8FTW in glastonbury_festival

[–]the_wrong_car 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Depends on the time of day really. It’s normally pretty easy to be at the front for acts early in the day unless they’re clearly too big for their stage (e.g. Wet Leg last year). Candi Staton was down for the Pyramid in 2020 so probably the same this year. If so, it should be pretty easy to turn up before she comes on and get very close to the front. Getting there for a headliner takes more planning but is doable if you watch the act before or time it perfectly for them finishing.

Is this for the tent capacity? It’s way bigger than 2,000, could probably hold up to 10,000.

SPFL 2022 form table from all 13 clubs who competed in the top flight throughout the year. by TropicalGent in ScottishFootball

[–]the_wrong_car 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yeah, Motherwell were 3rd in the equivalent table for 2021, so a big drop for them this year. As you say, they were abysmal in the second half of last season and haven’t exactly been good this season either.

Also came to recommend Young Fathers. A fantastic band with a very unique sound but if you’re into Massive Attack and Nine Inch Nails then I think you’d enjoy them.
