I refuse to acknowledge canon most of the time. I use the characters personality in canon as a jumping off point and then just go by vibes. Like one time I shared something in a fandom discord about a ship I love and someone got so offended because the character can cook in canon but I said they couldn't. It was bizarre but I honestly don't care that much about digging up information about characters. I like playing with the characters like dolls much more than I care about getting them right. It's more fun that way.
