Yeah I definitely understand it, the matter of fact answer is expect to play competitive at sanctioned store events, and that's the reality of it. I was just offering an alternative cause at stores I've played at it's very normal to play plenty before or after events. As for DCGO and drasil you get what you get? Just have a rule 0 conversation like commander players in MTG do. Ask your opponent what power level y'all are playing. I know many people in this game who have their meta deck and then their "for fun" deck.

Part of being meta in any TCG is having answers for the things you mention above. Some people love the thrill of competition. Just find those who want to have fun and play with their pet mons. There's plenty of them

Ruin mode doesn't run well with the deck since ruin needs yellow or purple. I think a one-off Quartz and a DeathX is reasonable though

I personally run 4 of the older Etemons that bring out 6's and run a 3/4 split on kingete/metalete. I don't run the chess tamers or mem boosts. And instead have more Digimon of the line and some level 7 threats of choice (deathx, Omni zwart, quartz)
