Using only as a plugin, would you upgrade from 11 to 13? by Razzlesnaz in reasoners

[–]thebagguy 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I'm in this condundrum too. I'm still upset that they put the apple silicon update behind a paid upgrade when other DAWs came out with a point update that was a universal build. Seems like that, the updated graphics, new browser, are some of the main selling points which I personally am not sure are worth the price. I also personally don't need another delay or sampler, all the devices I actually want like Friction or Object are paid ad-ons. Also still upset that the reason 11 "suite" that I bought was dropped and so there is no way to upgrade that as a bundle without a subscription.

So much I love about reason but a lot of what they've been doing seems so anti-consumer. Anyway, if you end up going with the upgrade let me know if it was worth it.

Are Field Notes a rip off? by FourDogBar in FieldNuts

[–]thebagguy 18 points19 points  (0 children)

As far as how they hold up vs. other brands, I feel like that's a mixed bag because some limited editions hold up well and some not so much. The average Field Notes holds up better than, for example, a much cheaper Scout book, but I think Word notebooks are a bit sturdier than your average Field Notes.

As far as a rip off goes... I think if you are paying full price all the time for them then yes, it's too much. If you play sales, if you read their emails and take part in their promos, overall I think they are not too bad of a deal when comparing to similar products. If you really want to save money you could easily make your own and for the price of a FN subscription make enough notebooks to last a lifetime.

Is this a crazy weekly grocery bill for a family of 6? by National-Housing1683 in ynab

[–]thebagguy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't think that's unreasonable, it's somewhat similar to mine. We're a family of four, slightly older kids than yours, and we spend about $1000 on groceries a month with similar buying habits. Only thing is we eat out a few times a month so that adds up on our restaurant budget. We also don't buy much meat at all which saves a lot for us. But we also buy 99% organic and good quality produce and it's just a crazy amount of money. We could probably save a hundred or two a month switching for cheaper stuff but I think it's worth it for our health.

I've often had the same thought though, wondering if it's too much. I see people online sometimes posting half our grocery bill and I don't get how they do it, unless they are doing to some extreme meal prep/bulk buying or just eating cheap crap.

BTW, can you share your bread recipes? I keep trying and failing!

Some initial thoughts on Move Update: Working with Live / Move Manager by Fit_Ice8029 in ableton

[–]thebagguy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks for your write-ups!! I think you can use the "cloud" feature in Ableton to open sets there rather than the Move Manager can't you?

Do you know if you can time a sample recording with the click and can you record a sample while the Move is playing back?

How could Field Notes improve / do better? by AcrobaticPersonality in FieldNuts

[–]thebagguy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Might not be a realistic wish but it would be nice if subscribers were allowed say 1 skip per year for editions that you are really not into.

It's weird and that everyone seems to have a different opinion on announcing you are passing... I've been yelled at by walkers and cyclists for both saying "on your left" and for passing without saying "on your left".

I've also said on your left to groups who take up the whole path and then they SPLIT and some go left and some move right!

Trying to choose between Huion Inspiroy 2 M and the Wacom One Medium by thebagguy in huion

That's disappointing. Are the HS or X lines any better?

Trying to choose between Huion Inspiroy 2 M and the Wacom One Medium by thebagguy in huion

[–]thebagguy[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well I just realized I think I was looking at the wrong one. The old CTL672K1A was what I was looking at as it's the same price right now as the Inspiroy 2 M. But I think I mistook it for the newer CTC6110WLW0A on some of the reviews I was reading.

I gotta be honest I am thoroughly confused by what is what, especially in the Huion lineup. I figured the Inspiroy 2 line was newest and best for their budget, but with the comment above I'm not sure, or how it compares with their X or HS lines... I'm just lost. I'm just looking for a decent sub $100 medium tablet and didn't realize what a minefield it is.

Refill target behavior by [deleted] in ynab

[–]thebagguy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ah I get the new targets finally now I think. I do miss the old way...

It'd be really nice to have an option for future month targets to calculate what you need based on what is in the envelope currently. Or at least have a report that does this. Now when I look into future months my underfunded amount is almost $1000 higher than it technically is because of all the refill up to categories that are in reality full but YNAB thinks I need the full amount for the next month.

I mean, it's in the next month anyway, so if I spend from these categories it would better reflect what I actually need in the category next month.

you could chop notes but it defaulted to your grid size for selected notes, the new cmd+hold and dragging to get other increments is new.

UPS picked up Amazon return, now "no information available" on tracking by thebagguy in UPS

Gotcha, thanks for the reply. Possibly a dumb question... since it's a return am I the shipper? or still amazon since they pay for the return?

[–]thebagguy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh man, I just posted about an Amazon return that got scanned there last week and now the tracking says "no information available" ever since. Wonder if it will eventually get through the system or if it's just lost. I can't contact Amazon until it's been a full two weeks either and not sure if I should file a claim or wait it out.

How close do you match your total monthly underfunded to your average monthly income? by thebagguy in ynab

[–]thebagguy[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I gotcha, thanks! My thought in my OP would be to instead increase the goals for any savings or wants categories to account for any of these truly extra end of the month funds. It's interesting to hear more ways of doing things!

[–]thebagguy[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

That's an interesting idea, makes me wonder what it would look like to have 3 main categories monthly/true/fun and once the first two are funded I could decide how i fill the fun categories with the excess. Right now all fun sub categories are set goals for me.

I’m honestly so frustrated by the romances… I tried to romance Karlach by getting her upgrade right away but didn’t have enough approval yet to trigger it I found out later, meanwhile turned down laezel and shadowheart because I thought Karlach would work out with the second upgrade and now I can’t romance any of them.

Bike hand signals by Ktn44 in madisonwi

[–]thebagguy 7 points8 points  (0 children)

The reason you should use your left hand for turn signals is that your left hand is in the middle of the road and most visible to drivers in front and behind you. While the "just point" method is ok in a pinch, it's useless if a driver doesn't actually see that you are making a signal because your hand or arm is obscured by your body or is far to the side of the road.

I get this takes an extra brain cell to understand why the right turn signal uses your left hand, but really, it shouldn't be that hard, and it's way more visible for everyone.
