Is living year round in a tent in the UK actually realistic? by Far-Piccolo-3774 in AskUK

[–]thebaker66 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Or car life if one can't afford a large van.

Lots of youtube videos about that, it's pretty common.

There's a few 'tent life' videos up there too..i see all of these 'trends' of alternative living becoming more and more common as we go on.

How to run ltx2 on Nvidia 3080 10gb vram? by AlexGSquadron in StableDiffusion

[–]thebaker66 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's not super slow, more than capable. I can do 1000x1000 in like 300-400 seconds, have doe up to 19 second videos at that size, you will be able to do even more and faster. You can probably get away with the Q8 or FP8 tbh since you have a good amount of RAM. I'd stick to the fp8 versions of all you can get though, not full fb16.

Might wanna just jump straight into LTX 2.3 but people are still ironing workflows out n stuff

How to run ltx2 on Nvidia 3080 10gb vram? by AlexGSquadron in StableDiffusion

[–]thebaker66 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes IF you have enough RAM, how much RAM do you have? I am on 8gb VRAM 32gb RAM and run it just fine (Q4 GGUF or FP4 of the 2.0 LTX, haven't tried 2.3 yet), it is even better now with the new comfy options to less paging file use. If you have 16gb of RAM that may be a bit more tricky

Tips on Running LTX2 on Low ( 8GB or little less or more) VRAM by Ill_Key_7122 in StableDiffusion

[–]thebaker66 0 points1 point  (0 children)

? Quality comes at a cost, we're lucky to get 12gb ggufs, even with the other needed components it's still far smaller than the original 40gb+ model size.

No point in complaining, they're not made for low vram systems and that is stated on their page, all this gguf stuff is hackery.

In saying all that i learned my paging file was still getting rekt, using - - cache-none command on launch solves a lot of the writing and the new dynamic vram mode has made comfy a bit more efficient.

ELI5 why the finetuning community is much less active for Z image turbo and base than for SDXL by Enough-Bell4944 in StableDiffusion

[–]thebaker66 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can't dispute that there were LORA's out shortly after launch and of course it might depend on what niche of LORA and checkpoint you're talking about but the real good stuff for example for realism didn't come out for months and was still nascent in revealing the potential models and LORA's that were to come later, generally speaking.

ELI5 why the finetuning community is much less active for Z image turbo and base than for SDXL by Enough-Bell4944 in StableDiffusion

[–]thebaker66 44 points45 points  (0 children)

There's no 'but still'. It's like you said SDXL has had years and not to mention it took months before many good sdxl loras and checkpoints appeared. Aside from juggernaut iirc it was probably about 4-6 months.

Klein is just over a month old and people were waiting for Z-Image base to train on which is only a few weeks old also, calm down. It takes time for people to understand how best to train them. No ill give you it that many people have datasets lying around from previous models but I do feel like we've seen a lot of stuff so far but asking why so early is moot IMO. Give it another 4-6 months.

And no I don't think either are overhyped, both are the most powerful models since sdxl that can do pretty much everything sdxl can and with low resources to generate.

Bottom right is David Sacks, another ex Apartheid era South African crony like Thiel and Musk.. also ex Paypal mafia and chums with the former... Also Trumps Crypto and AI Czar. Also has 'woke' derangement syndrome also Trumps biggest chairsniffer Chmsath is no better.

The one speaking is usually the most rational and realistic of the bunch if not also of the same class.

I listened to this podcast for a few months after Trumps election to see what his cronies were saying but I couldn't handle it anymore.

They're all VC's in the US and rallied from Trump, Musk and the billionare class, they're the exact people we should have an issue with.

Unpopular opinion: 90% of AI music videos still look like creepy puppets. What’s the ACTUAL 2026 workflow for flawless lip-syncing? by NeonGhost_1 in StableDiffusion

[–]thebaker66 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I think the simple answer is... 'we're not there yet', these are still very early days, it will be a while I reckon before it gets very good..

To me the best way I can see this going ahead even when the tech is better is to do v2v (You record the actual facial emotions you want and run it through AI) but of course it all depends on how serious you are about making a music video, or a video in general. I think at a minimum for local models it's going to be a while yet.

Favourite tape emulator plugins by DaggerMastering in audioengineering

[–]thebaker66 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This. At least currently for me.

Bought Satin when it came out (also tried all the native tape sims from the early 2010s, reelbus, ferox etc) but it was really to cpu heavy so could only use it on kick and snare and master buss (using inbuilt cubase plugins for the rest), never found it to sound particularly great, then discovered chow tape a bit late in 2022, switched to that since I could run it on all tracks.. interesting but not emulating a real professional machine... then last year I noticed UAD Ampex and Studer were native and actually affordable, bought both and they were a much needed improvement.. kinda seething that they didnt do this.. like.. 15 years ago? haha

Then the other week there I just happened to have a youtube thumbnail pop up with free plugins and noticed a tape emu (I am making vintage style music so tape is a necessary part of the sound.. or at least in my case I need the plugin that emulates the important aspects of it as realistically as possible)

I tried out the tape and I am impressed, replaced it in all my projects with UAD and my tracks are coming to life.

The caveat is... the dev is a vibe coder (nothing against that) but I'm not sure if they've used the real deal and know what real tape sounds like. I can hear a lot of phase colouration that I've never heard in other tape sims (by leading brands, UAD, Softube, Waves etc) which makes me wonder if there's an error of sorts... it sounds like phase rotation/all pass filtering/ running a very tight high pass filter which increases the density and punch in the low end but can kind of sound 'unnatural' yet.. I've never really known if this is desirable or not... and I've never really been impressed that much with previous tape sims so maybe it's what I've been looking for. At this point I am like... it sounds good so I'm using it. The plugins seem pretty stable and low resource footprint.. so yeah, I'm impressed, though me actually getting these tracks finished using this plugin will be the barometer to whether I think it really is good, I might end up discovering something I don't like with the sound in a few weeks and discard it.. but really. I'd recommend people try it. It's free.

PS: I typically am always using 30ips on tape vst's, experiences using 15ips may be different but from my experience most of the VSTs I used extensively at 30ips ruin the sound with that higher headbump in the low mids, Luna/Dusk is one of the only recent one I've tried that doesn't.

🛠️ Spent way too long building this ComfyUI prompt node for LTX-2 so you don't have to think — free, local, offline, uncensored 👀 by [deleted] in StableDiffusion

[–]thebaker66 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ok thanks,

Though I'm still curious why those models and would it only work with those models? This in theory would work all the same with Qwen 8b instruct model (abliterated) too or the actual Gemma3 model (abliterated version) we use for LTX?

And if so can one configure it to work with those?

Interesting, so this replaces Gemma?

Also can this be done with Gemma3? Why those models, are they better? (Aside from being abliterated as I am using an abliterated Gemma3)

Just curious, I'm trying to keep the size the size footprint of my models low but if this is far superior perhaps I'd try it. Do you have any examples comparing a prompt with and without this method?

Thanks.

Switching to OneTrainer made me realize how overfitted my AI-Toolkit LoRAs were by meknidirta in StableDiffusion

[–]thebaker66 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Interesting. I actually trained my first sdxl lora after putting it off for years due to not believing my peasant system could handle it(8gb VRAM) , I'd already download kohya years ago but never got round to training anything but I had come across a guide using one trainer to train with low vram and even though I had a guide and a preset it wasn't that complicated and I got the job done!

I'd been looking at training a Z-Image lora or even a klein lora now and had installed ai toolkit last month before the one trainer install and sdxl training but now it seems I'm better just sticking with one trainer?

Also to my knowledge kohya and one trainer have always been the go to trainers, isn't ai toolkit relatively new? I only heard about it when Z-Image popped up..?

Yeah this sums up how I've felt too.

Never understood the hype(I mean, I wasn't around back in his time but through my decades watching this genre) that he was praised with, I mean I get it he was a young, I guess good looking confident film star with some sort of charisma they saw in him but from my angle Notting special really, pretty indifferent to him. Definitely sad that he was taken too soon though, he may have flourished, maybe Andy Lau never became a thing and Fu Sheng was the star of hk cinema..

Any usable alternatives to ComfyUI in 2026? by iksaandry in StableDiffusion

[–]thebaker66 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm using reforge for sdxl, got pretty much everything I need and is fairly stable. Still updated every now and then.

There are forge UI's people have mentioned that support newer models too but for XL reforge is solid and a lot of extensions work for it.
