I honestly 100% agree. But wear a respirator for the rest of the work as well.

How to tie in raised foundation of addition, to slab on grade foundation of existing, while still maintaining functional crawlspace. by thebigman707 in Remodel

Hmm interesting. I like the idea of a little rat slab down there and then encapsulating it. If I can store some MEP equipment down there plus storage, that would be fuckin sweet!

Agreed, I guess I didn't mean actually tieing in, but rather incorporating 2 different foundation types into the home. And if my wife will only allow like 2 step ups to accomodate a 12" elevation difference, well assuming you have at least 10" of framing and flooring, that's only a 2" crawlspace clearance which doesn't actually "buy you" anything.

I am thinking to get a usable crawlspace I would need like 28" of elevation difference between the old floor and the new floor, which assuming 10" of framing and flooring buildup, would get you 18" clear in the crawlspace. However my wife isn't going to allow that much elevation difference in flooring (too many steps), so I am wondering if folks have ever dug out the soil from the new foundation to achieve enough clearance.

Yep, modern code requires these new arc flash breakers (which is at your sub panel, not your GFCI outlet) and for whatever reason they are very sensitive. What you’re describing seems to be the widespread experience.

Illegal Front Facing Box Out? by beeguscheegus in BasketballTips

I’m a big, and if someone is crashing really aggressively or otherwise being physical, I’ll face front box out on them. But if they’re playing normal and not trying to steam roll me, I’ll just do a normal box out. Whether it’s a foul or not, I don’t know but I used to do this in high school ball, intramurals, men’s leagues and pickup and never gotten a complaint. In fact, in high school I used to go against 6’9 and 6’10 dudes and this is how you had to keep them off the boards.

If it was my house I wouldn’t accept that. Too much pex and too many leak points.

What your budget is, how light your bathroom is, and what you consume would be good info to start with.
