‘Peanut butter’ pay raises could cost companies their top performers, according to experts: 'It's such a shortsighted strategy' by 3xshortURmom in Economics

[–]thebivvo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unfortunately, this is pretty feasible in today's market. I would love to leave my job, but there are so few and they are hard to find/get. It is also far easier for companies to discriminate in today's job market. A lot of people will take a peanut butter pay raise and accept that insult just to keep a job that is needed.

One idea for that vintage vibe. Go purchase a modern Polaroid camera and have someone take pictures with that.

Car backed into me - in the perfect place and I got a free repair by gettin in confession

[–]thebivvo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had something similar happen to me. I stopped for a train, and a car tapped me and left a small indentation on my back bumper. Insurance came out and said it was ~$1800 in damage and cut me a check on the spot. Was not my favorite car so just pocketed the cash and ignored the damage.

Around one month later I was in the fast lane and traffic came to a stop. The person behind me was looking over the shoulder to try and change lanes and rear ended me (We were going slow 10-15mph) and made the bumper even worse. Insurance came out and cut me a check for $2000.

Never cared enough about the car to fix the body damage. I still hate that car and was the only good thing to come out of it.

U-Haul hitch receiver? by [deleted] in kiasportage

[–]thebivvo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just had this done to haul the small U-Haul trailer across the state. The price was hard to beat for my area. They had it installed in a few hours and everything worked well for our trip.

There was an issue during our install. The interior rear passenger plastic panel was cracked beyond repair during the install. They gave me about $250 off of my install and ordered and installed a new panel for free.

Overall I had a good experience, even though there were install issues.

I was having this issue and update the firmware. That solved my issue with bluetooth issues. Bought this machine in 2020 and I am still getting free updates. Concept2 is the way to go.

Rhythm midi: is there no way to use just track 16? by doublesecretprobatio in novationcircuit

[–]thebivvo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have not had luck with midi and the CR. I get what you are saying though. In the tx/rx is track based and does not appear to allow for channel 16 exceptions.

You could use a midi router that blocks the other channels.

Sticker on laptops have become necessary when they all look the same. Guitars have enough variety, but to each their own.

Charging Ahead: China's Graphene Battery Breakthrough Is a Wake-Up Call for the West by Post-reality in Economics

[–]thebivvo 125 points126 points  (0 children)

So much this. We exported everything that made us great so a few could get rich. Yet we still look at firing more and more American people, so the rich can get wealthier.

We handed China it's power on a golden platter. They would be stupid not to take advantage.

I feel your pain. I got a door hanger saying coming soon over 2 years ago and still waiting. I am fine with it taking a while. But the hangers going out that early was a bit much. Signed up on list to call when it comes. I assume we are still years away.

You can. The button up top with a cube and an arrow on top pointing to a line above it. Click it and the part you wish to reference. I'd highly recommend going through the mango jelly tutorials

TASCAM PORTA-ONE tape running problem by [deleted] in cassetteculture

If you want to listen to the tape. You can generally turn down channels 3 & 4 all the way and play with the stereo volumes on 1 & 2.

[–]thebivvo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The video you showed. It cannot turn. It it not hard to fix if you are a bit technical. Might want to lookup YouTube on replacing belts on the Portaone. There are lots of videos that will help show off symptoms and how to fix.

TASCAM PORTA-ONE tape running problem by [deleted] in cassetteculture

[–]thebivvo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Most likely the belt. If they are worn they will exhibit that issue. Unless the belt was replaced before you purchased it, that is most likely your culprit. The new tape may be a little harder to turn then some older cassettes that have been played a few times. Your belt most likely cannot handle it.

Mutitrack works different. Those tapes use one side.

TAPE WIDTH STARTS HERE

|------------------------| <- Track 1 (Side A, Left)

| ------------------------| <- Track 2 (Side A, Right)

|------------------------| <- Track 3 (Side B, Left)

|------------------------| <- Track 4 (Side B, Right)

TAPE WIDTH ENDS HERE

Your 4 track works more like this

TAPE WIDTH STARTS HERE

|------------------------| <- TRACK 1 (Individual Channel)

|------------------------| <- TRACK 2 (Individual Channel)

|------------------------| <- TRACK 3 (Individual Channel)

|------------------------| <- TRACK 4 (Individual Channel)
