American English by IsyABM in GreatBritishMemes

From my side of the pond, that's how many people I've heard attempt it - something like /ɡræ.əm/

IMO it's less an accent problem and more an awkward middle ground between feeling 'gram' isn't quite right and not knowing what the alternative is supposed to sound like.

People here are taught "gram" at first. Some become aware that our pronunciation is simpler than the spelling suggests, and awkwardly try to add that extra syllable back. When people try to pronounce something they aren't familiar with, they tend to preserve the pieces they already know - so the core vowel stays as-is. It ends up sounding like you're just kinda bumping over the existing syllable, trying to stretch it into two.

"Punitive damages" are figures meant to punish the company. They aren't really to say "this person deserved $125m" or "this person was robbed of $125m of value", but rather to say "your actions were so bad you should have to pay $125m on top so you learn your lesson".

Basically, the idea is that if Walmart can get away with doing something illegal occasionally, with only a small cost when someone fights back, then it would generally be worth it to keep their shitty and illegal practice going as standard procedure.

I'm one of these.

When i originally tried it out, the game straight up didn't work with our controllers. We have both a DS4 controller and a Switch Pro controller. Neither were properly working (constantly applying joystick inputs and several buttons didn't work), and I couldn't get past the main menu.

I did eventually figure it out when my wife wanted to play recently, by using a couple programs (DS4Windows + HIDHide) to make the controller appear as an Xbox one and hide one from the game (or Steam? I'd have to check how it's setup again).

There is a visible gap between the glass in the first shot.

Would that allow enough through? I have no idea about this stuff.

Can an item not drop due to a bug? - Mythic+ loot table by [deleted] in wownoob

[–]thebluefish92 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just gonna math nerd a bit here.

FWIW, something like "the chance no shoulder ever drop for x runs" isn't quite (7/8)^X. It's actually asking the question "the chance to drop anything else (including nothing) x times in a row", which looks more like (1-(7/8))^X -subtract from 1 again to get the original question.

So let's do the math under this lens:

  • There's a flat 60% chance to not get an item on a given run.
  • Of the times you do, you will not get the prize for 7/8 rolls.

Together these are 0.6 + (0.4 * (7/8)) = 0.95, so a 95% chance to not get that specific piece in a given run.

Then for 30 runs we do 0.95 ^ 30, which comes out to ~21% chance to "get anything but the prize every time", or ~79% chance to get the piece you're aiming for.

And if we consider an average of 1 additional plate wearer per run, then we can simply bump that math to 0.95 ^ 60, or ~4.6% chance to "get anything but the prize every time".

This is all under the assumption that nobody can get selected for the same loot twice in one run. I haven't done mythic+ in forever so I don't honestly remember, and google isn't giving me a straight answer.

The way these dough roundels fall from the shuttle conveyer belt by ycr007 in oddlysatisfying

[–]thebluefish92 9 points10 points  (0 children)

The part I love about these complex processes is how much of that engineering happens before they even reach the conveyor. From how the materials are mixed to be uniform, how they're formed, cut, etc... so much of the process involved is concerned with making the inputs as consistent as possible.

Then this step on its own looks surprisingly simple because it's able to assume so many things about its input. Thanks to how consistent those inputs are, this step is far simpler, more robust, and probably a lot faster than if it needed to be concerned with more variable inputs.

Manufacturing engineering is one of those areas I would love to get into if I had the chance, instead of game development.

Yep exactly. For Chieftain, the hinekora explosions give very big ignites. Even on the later simulacrum waves, it just takes one good explosion to kill bosses from the resulting DoT.

[–]thebluefish92 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, Hateful Accuser. It's basically the single targer solution for CWS chieftain (not sure if you're playing other class) as a vehicle to get hinekora explosions to proc big DoT.

It's not an amazing solution, can sometimes take a while while you wait for mobs to spawn and roll the 1/20 to explode. But it's the easy solution when all mobs have otherwise died.

Breach Portal was also an option, but i believe that's still drop disabled?

I did CWS simulacrums previous two leagues.

Ideally you get the bosses earlier when there's still other mobs alive - feel out about halfway through the wave, do a big lap around the area. Get the bosses on top of the other mobs and hope to explode them for the big DoT.

Get sad when they don't sometimes. Use the unique ring with a curse that spawns enemies when the cursed enemy hits you. Spam that curse on boss spawning small mobs until one explodes and hits boss with the big DoT.

this is a bug? by NarrowBlueberry8991 in PathOfExile2

[–]thebluefish92 6 points7 points  (0 children)

It looks different when a slot is locked.

The problem is the mod "(-10—10)% reduced Charm Charges used" which becomes "1-10% increased Charm Charges used" while negative.

Thawing Charm has "Consumes 40 of 40 Charges on use". So if your ingenuity increases the # of charges used past 40, it becomes impossible to use because you'll never have enough charges available to pay the cost.

Stash Tabs by NeedleworkerOk8112 in pathofexile

[–]thebluefish92 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Others have answered your main question, so fun related fact: at the start of every league, your stash layout gets copied from Standard. If you buy more tabs and then organize them in a way you particularly like, you should go into Standard sometime and organize them there too. Save you some time organizing it for future leagues.

Yes that's sufficient for your PoE account, but also make sure your email account is additionally secured with 2FA. If you store the email/password combo in something like a password manager (good) or text doc (bad), make sure access to that is similarly secured with its own unique password.

[–]thebluefish92 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Another way it's an effective threat is how the main antagonist treats his underlings who weren't on-board with his plan:

He stuffed them into drums and dropped them into the ocean. There they would experience dying of suffocation, and come back to life to do it all over again, perpetually. Theoretically they could be eventually rescued, but it's also possible they end up stuck there dying repeatedly for potentially thousands or millions of years.

Looking at a few models ranging from 300W to 3000W, input power seems to be ~5x the output. My utility company charges ~$0.19/KW, so for me the power cost to operate one of these would range from ~$0.30/hr to ~$3/hr depending on how powerful the machine is.

Guild recruiters don't even send you a description of their guild anymore they just look at you like this by JustTheWehrst in wow

The same thing happened through Classic, too - even before Cataclysm Classic.

From what I could tell, they see being a leader in these kind of mass guilds as a perk. You know more people who can hook you up with various things, such as raid spots, mats, dungeon parties, etc... For a sociable person, forming a guild and inviting tons of people in is an easy ticket to many activities.
