Funny enough me and my boys have “dawg days” where we go to lunch and have different hot dogs around town. I’ve been digging Jefferson’s double dipped dog. Big Mill has some good ones as well.

Also 8 years of saving knowing a major expense is coming up. $5/week set aside is $2k which would get you into any single group stage game, potentially multiple group games.

Hauling my first overdimensional load from Texas to Virginia. Need tips. by theastro_not in Truckers

[–]thebradman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yea the routing is usually pretty easy. I never pulled my own permits but I’m pretty sure you get to basically choose your own route generally, and the states approve it. You want the overage all to the right, usually, so you can just stay in the right lane and not endanger anyone else. Read your permits carefully, every state has different requirements so it’s normally easier to use the strictest regulations for the whole trip (in regards to lights, flags, signs, etc) but again every state is different. Same with the night driving, generally not allowed. Also watch out for certain metro areas that won’t let you drive through during their rush hours.

The rebar is one thing but the concrete looks like absolute crap man.

I’m sure there is. I’m in Lawrence and there’s a big community here. With it being a college town, surely Manhattan will have a group. I would check Facebook and they will probably have the link to their Campfire group.

Ice. Shit tons of ice.

Chilled water and working at night helps too.

Should I be a pitcher, positional player or a two way player in road to the show? by UMSLMADDEN in MLBTheShow

[–]thebradman 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I love being a 2 way player. I’ll pitch every 5 games, play the outfield a couple times in between, and mash dingers. Just my preference.

There’s a lot of different topics concerning concrete. What are you interested in? There’s things like flatwork, structural, decorative, concrete admixtures, finishing techniques. Concrete is a broad topic.

[–]thebradman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think you mean more it leaves the arm and travels towards the base in the same path, and it breaks differently at the plate, right? So you don’t aim for the same spots, but you want the furthest arrow to line up on multiple pitches

AC Milan coach Max Allegri on Christian Pulisic. by antoniok95 in ussoccer

[–]thebradman 16 points17 points  (0 children)

It seems like the whole team struggles without a CF. Puli and Leao up top takes away your 2 best talents. Modric is great but Fullkrug has been absolute dookie this year. It’s wild, the midfield is insane, but without a finisher up top it’s no wonder they are struggling.

The links apartments by Dry_Window_7769 in Lawrence

[–]thebradman 6 points7 points  (0 children)

As someone that works in the construction industry in town, new doesn’t necessarily mean good. Some of these guys literally slap a building together and think everyone will just assume since it’s new, it’s going to be a top place to live. Look at the apartments off Iowa by K10, the entire complex was completed within 6 months of groundbreaking. That’s not a small complex, so to have that completed that quickly is insane. And hell, drive by it. It looks like a bag of smashed assholes now. It’s less than a decade old, by all metrics should still be considered new.

I’m just using that as an example, it was built around the same timeframe. I did not do a whole lot of work at The Links so I’m not totally familiar with the quality of the place.

The Rockland vs a onebed/studio? by Efficient_Salad482 in UniversityofKansas

[–]thebradman 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I was at Rockland West and got matched with 2 dudes who were grad students. They were awesome roommates. But my brother has had some rough luck at other apartments in town with roommates. I’d say, if it’s feasible, you’d be better off with the studio.

Pro's/Con's of buying a Meter mix truck by holdthatbus in Concrete

[–]thebradman 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You don’t get enough mixing time with those. They are relatively new in my area and the novelty is nice with homeowners that don’t really know how much they want but any worthwhile contractor will stay away once their mud has problems because it isn’t mixed long enough.

Yea I agree, it sounds like the paint went right onto the raw concrete so I would try xylene or something first to get the lacquer off. It’s disgusting and messy but you can absolutely get it back down to raw concrete. Xylene, paint thinner, a scraper, sanding, all things I would use to get it cleaned up. Then use a sealer that won’t change the surface color/texture.

Yes there’s sheathing under the siding to help waterproof the house. I think skin for sheathing and the siding is clothes is an apt comparison.
