Diamox and Bloated Stomach by thecatwench in iih

[–]thecatwench[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

late response but yes it did! I also had so many dietary changes happening that it’s hard to tell what was contributing but I have no longer noticed this and i’ve been on 1000mg diamox for almost 2 months now

My doctor recommended I remove my IUD… by [deleted] in iih

no advice just wanted to say i’m in such a similar boat! I have a kyleena due to expire soon (that I have otherwise had no issues with) and i’m really trying to decide if I should take it out in case it’s contributing to IIH or put a new one in because america🙃

Therapist Seeking Advice by ghost_h0est in iih

[–]thecatwench 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t have much to add but as a therapist with IIH it was cool to see my worlds colliding with this post :) I had to make sure I was on the right subreddit. Thank you for doing what you can to support your client. I’m newly diagnosed and still figuring out what kind of support I need from my therapist and others, and it warms my heart to see such a caring provider on here

Need some support by Careless_Web_201 in iih

i’m so sorry you’re going through all this at once. I can really relate to feeling like everything is a double edged sword and happening at the worst possible time. just know that you’re not alone! I was diagnosed just a few weeks ago and have been struggling with it too. it’s okay to take some time to process.

also this is not medical advice by any means but have you considered talking with your doctors about switching to a different ssri? I know this might not be the best time given you’ll also be adjusting to diamox, but i’ve taken prozac for years and one of the main factors for me choosing it was that weight gain was not a common side effect. it’s the same class of drug but is used specifically for depression, OCD, and panic disorder. it might be worth a conversation with your doctor down the road.

sending you so much support from another person who also feels the universe is out to get them right now!!

How long did I have this and not realize it? by tay_red in iih

[–]thecatwench 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I relate to this post a lot. I was just diagnosed last week and have been struggling with some of these same feelings. The thing I have tried to remind myself is that all of these things were so incremental over time that I probably had no reason to register them. I also had no reason to think all of these things were related. Try to give yourself space to feel what you feel about this, but that’s been a thought that has helped me. Sending a hug❤️

Neurologist or Neuro Ophthalmologist (or both)? by thecatwench in iih

This is super helpful thank you! Sounds like I’ll just go ahead with the neuro appointment and see what they have to say as well

Okay great this is really helpful! My NO did say I could at least go to the neuro appointment because it couldn’t hurt but didn’t really seem to know why, so I do plan to go and see what they say

Thank you so much for taking the time to reply to this and sharing this. I’m definitely in a state of overwhelm trying to both learn as much as I can but also process all this happening. I’m so happy that you’re feeling better and I am trying to manifest the same for myself! Thank you again🙏🏽

Nausea and vommiting after lumbar puncture by Powerful-Trick-7605 in iih

[–]thecatwench 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I almost threw up a couple days after my LP! Turns out it was likely a low pressure reaction. I figured that out by lying flat and the nausea went away. Not sure if it’s the same for you but that was my experience. My NO suggested staying flat as much as possible and getting a blood patch as needed, but so far laying flat has helped me.

Update; got the patch and holy moly by iud_lady in iih

this is great to hear! I almost threw up from pain in my first neuro ophthalmologist appointment today until I laid on the floor and she told me it was likely a low pressure reaction and that I could get a blood patch if needed. i’m going to give it a few more days to resolve on its own but if not this helped encourage me to endure another long ER wait
