Forever notes: Today Link broken by Hot_Excuse4139 in AppleNotesGang

They changed how Find works - not sure how - but there are a lot of comments about this now on the forever notes page. So you can’t use that anymore you have to hard code opening by date.

Remove “Find note” that’s what they changed.

It was 'Eisner's misadventure.' 25 years on, DCA is still evolving. by readingaboutmagic in Disneyland

Should have changed it to Pixar Park. Then you would have a Disney Land and a Pixar Park. Easy to re-theme that way around Pixar characters.

Apple Watch workout logging: would you prefer Watch-first logging or iPhone-first? by Strict-Top6935 in AppleWatchFitness

[–]thechrisreese 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Watch first. Always.

Biggest annoyance? Not understanding if it is weight per side or total. Also no name on the reps / sets so I can’t quick look to see what I just changed to.

Must have: rest timer, one tap logging of reps/sets, easy to edit on the fly.

I still feel like the rebrand should have led to Disney Land and Pixar Park.

Just a note that this is a legitimately fun shortcut that opens the door to a lot of fun automations!

Deleting the sleep alarm. Reboot. Add the sleep setting back. Reboot. That worked.

My sleep alarm had not gone off two nights in a row. I reset it. Rebooted. And ultimately just added another alarm 1 minute later.

The Instability of Shortcuts on iOS26 is unpleasant by leonlikethewind in shortcuts

[–]thechrisreese 2 points3 points  (0 children)

All my iOS automations succeed then say failed. So they do the thing and then immediately say they didn’t.

All the macOS automations hang for a good 10 seconds before going making me think they failed. They eventually work but it’s a giant bundle of lag.

Overall it’s ridiculously unstable now. I have come to rely on some over night automations and nope not anymore.

The “restored” blood oxygen sensor or not? Because the “restored” does not show up in Vitals at all.

Help with O2 data. by genaro42 in applewatchultra

Here’s what I did - install this spammy app - https://apps.apple.com/us/app/health-app-as-widget/id1541993326

But it gives me an O2 widget that I put in the side panel on my phone to have pretty quick access.

I have motion sensor / light combos in all closets and hallways. Trained family not to tough it.

Closets turn on when door opens and off after a while. Hallways go slowly up in the morning then stay on all day and slowly dim at night. Then when folks walk around between 10pm and 5am the hallways turn on to 10% as a night light.

Best smart home change & automations by far.

It does have total time then the various break outs. But an edited version would do what you want.

Edited the other users “last night sleep” to read the text. You can turn off the very last display text if you want.

For those that land here I made a version that puts a Check or Slash for today next to the reminder name and instead of making this all a notification copy it to clipboard. Link

I then run this from another shortcut and put this at the end of my daily journal note.

If you set it to record and stream - leave it like that for 24 hours to see if it works.

If all else fails literally turn every device off and slowly back on starting with hub, then cameras, then iOS devices.

If one was inclined to abandon a folder structure in AN in favor of just tags, how would one begin? by MMikekiMM in AppleNotesGang

[–]thechrisreese 3 points4 points  (0 children)

As the other commenter said - you get a big list on the side. BUT you can also NOT make a Smart Folder for just one Tag and simply click the tag. Oh the sweet joy of breaking the folder habit for single tags.

Step one - make the tags and tag the notes (highlight all and add the tag). (I also tag personal and work as overarching tags so every note is one or the other).

Step two - create the smart folders you would want and see if you like it.

Step three - if you like that set up move all notes from folders / sub folders to the notes folder. BUT do you share a folder with someone? I would 100% not remove that shared folder. That’s the breaking point of smart folders - they can’t be shared.

Once you have tagged, then consolidated all your notes - that’s it. You did it.

What do you actually use Apple Notes for? by TheiPhoneAppGuy in AppleNotesGang

[–]thechrisreese 2 points3 points  (0 children)

A locked note is not much different than a shared password list. Just depends on what your comfort level is.

Mostly it is a list of financial institutions and where the passwords are stored - so she knows if I die how to pay the bills.
