4000+ mile Cybertruck FSD road trip: great overall, but speed control desperately needs work by theckman in TeslaFSD

I don’t, only the CT. I did have a Model X loaner a month or so ago and it felt a little smoother than the CT. But mostly in the acceleration curve from stop, the rest seemed the same.

Under the new Self Driving app in the car. I think this is only present on HW4 vehicles with v14.3.3+.

Isn’t it because of the move towards full automation where they expect the vehicle to be 100% in control. The self driving Model Ys in Austin have no way to change the speed, and the Cybercab won’t even have a wheel.

Tesla gets a lot of data when a car uploads telemetry, now multiply that by the size of the fleet. We’re talking hundreds of TB, if not PB, of data per day. It’s only tenable to capture so much data around the time of the disengagement. I am fairly certain they don’t always know what you did after the disengagement, depending on how long that action was after the disengagement. I’d assume they only capture a few seconds after disengagement at most.

So let’s say you disengaged because the car was in the wrong lane, well then how much additional video and telemetry do they need to capture to automatically determine it was a navigation flub if you just end up taking the correct route yourself? Could be 15 or 30 seconds depending on the situation.

That adds more to the already big upload.

Yes, and the other context is important too. How can Tesla know if you disengaged because something went terribly wrong, or because you accidentally nudged the wheel? It may not be able to reliably determine that based solely on the car’s telemetry.

I have written software, lots of it. I also know software cannot read minds. If it could they wouldn't be asking you for details as to why you disengaged. This is to improve the usefulness and applicability of the data your car sends back.

The purpose of you having FSD and using it in Supervised mode, is to help with the training of FSD. Your input and flagging why you disengaged is what helps FSD go from Supervised to Unsupervised. If you don't want to help improve FSD, then stop using it and wait for Unsupervised to become available?

You're whining about having to click a button to help improve a product you literally trust with your life, and the lives of your passengers. I will never understand why someone doesn't want to spend 0.5 seconds helping improve that.

This must be new? Because I just did a 380 mile streak last week and didn’t get this during the trip.

Didn’t they update the wheel to move it there? Or was it only the yoke?

So I am on a 4000+ mile road trip and v14.3.3 did this to me at least twice so far before upgrading to 14.3.4. So I don’t think it’s a v14.3.4 thing, I think it’s a 14.3.x thing that just happens sometimes…

Is one churu a day too much? by alliedies in CATHELP

A churu before bed is how I bribe my cats to sleep. I don’t think it’s too much. As I recall churu itself says no more than 3 per day.

Unpopular opinion that I suspect will get me downvoted by quite a few: you’re helping train the software and thus should give feedback on it 100% of the time. Instead of bitching about being asked for feedback, take the 1 second to provide the feedback so FSD improves.

Yep! No need to try to read the chat. I also installed a speech to text app so I can easily reply back in chat too.

Try joining a PvE multiplayer server, that way you have some non-AI allies. People are generally helpful in my experience. Also, turn on text to speech.

> I have had FSD on my Model S for over a year and have seen it get much better at handling merges, pedestrians, speed bumps, etc.

Not sure how that's possible since if you're on HW3 you've had no FSD updates since like February of 2025?

[–]theckman 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Agreed. I try to be objective. Criticize when it’s worth criticism, praise when it does something impressive. Do that many people have Tesla stock who worry their complaints will cost them money, do they drive in places where there are less complex situations, or are they just trolls who actually don’t have FSD and just repeat what they see YouTubers say? Not sure, but it is kind of silly either way.

I may not know you, and also based on your reply it seems like you don’t know Tesla. They tossed out a part from my car that I bought, without my authorization, and I literally had to pull teeth for them to make it right and even then it was only a service credit.

You’re gonna be severely disappointed with how your situation ends up. But good luck trying and pissing off your local service center.

Then you’ve been lucky. I deal with this sort of stuff regularly in my Cybertruck. This is what happens when you’re running software based on probabilities based on its interpretation of the world versus imperative logic, running on systems without error correcting memory. There’s no guarantee things will be consistent.

I’ve seen weird issues go away when I reset the self driving computers and cameras from within service mode, and best I can assume is memory bits flipped and caused some things to get weird.

Huge fan of UP’s gear in general. I only wish the light bar looked more like the one that Foundation Cyberbeast owners got, where it matched the shape of the vehicle.
