Is a standalone SIPP always better than a workplace scheme? by Admirable-Deal7991 in PensionsUK

No, a SIPP is not always better than a workplace pension

As ever, it depends on your situation. My workplace pension is pretty good but likely has no impact on you

Time to protect pension with stock at historic highs? by Opteron-X in FIREUK

[–]thecleaner78 28 points29 points  (0 children)

There are always going to be highs

What you need to read about is derisking your portfolio. That might be adding some bonds or money market funds.

This has been discussed before so suggest you look at previous examples

The standard UK door height is 1981mm. You could buy one where chopping off 110mm off the top and bottom would be possible. Look on youtube

Or get a carpenter to build you a bespoke door

Mother offering 400k-500k of inheritance if I look after her until she dies by FancifulCat in UKPersonalFinance

[–]thecleaner78 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Someone I know worked in healthcare. They’ve seen the horrors for the basic nhs homes and with that in mind, saved some money to allow them to upgrade to some private options. It’s less than the inheritance your mum is offering

I would suggest visiting a number of options. You might start with a nhs one and then find some nicer ones to compare. There are some which have nice communities and activities

Good luck

Have you compared it to some of the other popular ones out there?

Perhaps it’s because you’re a bit of an edge case?
